FHG Gallery? No clue what im doing...

I want to make some FHG galleries for a site that has no affiliates. Where can I put them? Are they worth it in terms of bringing in traffic and sales? A few links to sites that are a good start to submit to? How many photos or videos should there be?

Anything I should know about making good FHGs? Its for a solo girl site, hardcore, rocker, tattooed type girl. I can handle the basics but suggestions on how many pictures etc....

Ok any info much appreciated!

Or you may ICQ me if you would rather.

Thanks! Why talk business when you can goof off of course.

This might seem like a dumb question, but why do you want FHGs when you have no affiliates? That's really the whole point, otherwise they're just galleries, like... for yourself. (the "free" part goes away because you are paying for your hosting and gallery dev.)

There are tons of TGP sites you can get memberships to like Shemp.com where you can put these galleries. If you are just trying to get some traffic to your site for possible joins look into doing that to start.

As far as the galleries themselves... keep them simple and clean with just enough branding and calls to action to get the viewer to click through to your paysite.

What amp said, they are just galleries.

Best thing to do is go look at http://thehun.net and see how other people make galleries then make your own style.

You could also consider hiring a designer for some templates at which point you just fill in the thumbs [crop them] & linked images or movies.

Ok well they are just galleries then good distinction. How many thumbs should I use? 9? 12? 16? Idk.....

Vendzilla 08-02-2010 09:09 AM

15 to 20 pics
3 to 4 videos
or hybrid 12 pics and a couple videos
keep them simple, no javascript or any other kinda of coding, NO tracking on the page! just simple HTML, most all tgp scripts will not allow that for submission to their sites
You can get tgp gallery templates made anywhere from $10 to $30 each
If you submit on The Hun, keep it very simple, less is more

Thanks ~ I would have used tracking and only 12 pics. Good info,! Saving me from dumb mistakes

Modern TGP scripts don't allow tracking, I know I never did when I ran TGP's

Here's a trick that can help keep simple counts: use a unique URL for each gallery site, i.e., a gallery submitted to the hun has one URL, that same gallery submitted elsewhere gets another URL and so on.

Your server logs will tell you how many times each gallery URL was displayed, so you'll know that the hun gallery was worth 300,000 views, or some such, for example.

No JS code like Google Analytics or traffic-leaking counter needed -- though the info is not detailed, just showing unique page loads -- but it helps...

Good tip Stephen. That could be very useful.

Webhost like Webair have really good stats built in, you can track a lot with that, thats how I've always done it

A good size for the full size picture these days is something like 1200 or 1300x800.... Somewhere around this value :thumbsup

Adding to that, when it comes to making thumbs, do not just resize the original images to fit in the template or it will take your gallery forever to load. Optimize the thumbs the best you can without ruining quality. Also be sure to use good cropping and make those thumbs look as good as possible!

Make a nice thumb for submitting to the tgp, the better the thumb, the more clicks.

Indeed, use gallerymaker in photoshop or something, then use the thumbs & images from those directories.... great point :thumbsup
