Sequels that DON'T suck
 

Thought this might be a more challenging thread- naming some follow up films that were as good if not better than the original.

Here are some that come to my mind:

if we want to go into 3 and 4 part series Mission Impossible 3 was really the only one out of that series I could get into. Shines like gold compared to the other two.

There are some movies that are sequels that you don't even think of as sequels, like Silence of the Lambs, that rock. I gotta try and rack my brain to see if I can remember any other gems.

I thought of those immediately. =]

Kill Bill (though it's not really a sequel)

Godfather II

but Godfather III kinda sucks

The Rocky franchise held up pretty well. Rocky V- the one with Tommy Guns- is the only one that kinda falls flat

Gnaw- Food of the Gods 2

Bad Boys 2 - lol, not a great movie but way better than the first go round.

I don't know if remakes should factor in or not, but the remake of Dawn of the Dead was pretty good as far as remakes go.

Fockers sequel... I see theyre coming out with another one involving babies. "Little Fockers" Should be another classic.

alright, Devils Rejects didn't suck but it wasn't nearly as good as House Of 1000 Corpses.

mad max 2 followed the story from the first, but I thought beyond thunderdome was crap

Aliens is the easy answer !!

With Terminator for me it's:

T1: Classic
T2: Annoying, lame humor ruined the movie
T3: Good
T4: *yells at lighting guy for fucking up the movie*

the second Austin Powers movie

That's the only one that comes to mind.

And I agree the third part sucked.

Godfather is the greatest.
I also enjoyed Lethal Weapon, I'd still want to see Gibson and Glover in a final one.

Couldn't remember the name of it, didn't love it, don' own it but thought it was worthy of a mention. I think it's called the Spy who Shagged me now that it's the AM and I have some coffee.

I was going to add "PHANTASM II" but if I recall well this one looks much more like a movie than "PHANTASM I", heh...

Worst: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey

I just found out that they are doing a remake of The Gate and it's being directed by Alex Winter / Bill from Bill and Ted.

Also to tie it in, the Gate 2 (if I haven't mentioned it before) is a decent sequel. I wouldn't say it's better than the original, but it stands up to it. The only way it disappoints is it only follows one character out, no more Stephen Dorff fam, but once you get over that and roll with it, it gets pretty good.

Another one of those "becareful what you wish for / good things come at a price" horror tales.

nah, not until Sep 10th.... but it's the first movie I'm gonna go sit in a theater for since 2003. :)

I love these movies too. My guilty pleasure. I was seriously bummed for a minute at the thought I missed one. :thumbsup

Madagascar II was waaaaay better than the first. Not that i'm into childrens films haha.

This thread needs a sequel as well...
