So I'm hand-approving affiliate applications...

and their website has a virus that tries to hack me somehow, then promptly crashes all my browser windows...

I feel your pain. I ran into an affiliates website about 2 months ago that made me lose 3 days worth of work trying to get rid of the shit.

I don't why any program these days wouldn't hand approve all affiliate applications. I have never seen this much fraud in all my years.

That being said, if you run a clean operation and want to make some money.. let me know.

I've been hand approving for over a year now. Fact, I don't even give out the affiliate link to sign-up until I've looked an affiliate over and checked them out. I actually turn quite a few away, especially if I see that they are only promoting the same way that I do myself.. no sence having them take money out of my pocket for something I'm doing myself.

That's sucks...

PR_Glen 07-28-2010 10:13 AM

that kind of shit happens to me weekly around here...

We've been hand approving things since the beginning, even with that it's not a perfect skim on fraudies getting in.

LongBG 07-28-2010 10:18 AM

That shit pisses me off.

Why 07-28-2010 10:24 AM

i use a virtual machine to surf strange websites. that way it cant infect much.

devilmusic 07-28-2010 12:25 PM

I guess that's why my application from 7 days ago is still being 'processed'. :(

You referring to us?
After submission of your info, we even ask you to contact us right away if you want your account approved right away.

james_clickmemedia 07-28-2010 01:01 PM

I feel your pain as I personally hand approve & verify all new & existing accounts.
Luckily I have some account that have been active for over 10 years and are honest companies / affiliates.

selena 07-28-2010 01:39 PM

We've hand verified information since a few months after JaYMan Cash opened. I am pretty sure that is what killed one of my machines, but 3xTom and Miss Tracy were there to make it all better, thankfully, by sending me another computer.

Jdoughs 07-28-2010 01:46 PM

A cheap $250 netbook would be perfect as a sacrificial lamb to verify/check new affiliates. Worst case scenario you 'revert' to factory install, or toss the thing away for another $250 netbook.

Remember our phone conversation a few months ago? ;)

You have some nice sites.

Just wanted to let you know "The Real Me" is listed twice under "Portfolio"

the internets is not to be trusted

Affiliates and sponsors will all be better off when affiliate programs move towards hand approval and invite only. It would also help remove some of the glut of free content even if only a small amount.

Danny B 07-28-2010 10:06 PM

Hand approval is the way to go.
Yes you occasionally walk into a website full of viruses but that's worth the hassle compared to the many frauds you bounce.

I am pretty well protected now, but when I wasn't, I used my old ass laptop which was already written off and didn't have any delicate info on it for approving new accounts. That way no real harm got done when hitting the occasional jackpot.

NickB. 07-28-2010 10:37 PM

macbook pro + chrome

HAPPYPEEKERS 07-28-2010 11:13 PM

We hand approve as well.

Too much fraud going on these days.
