So the industry can't come together...

But there are so many outta work bros

Why not start an industry NPO to promote the so called common industry goals?

2257 regulation, reigning in free content, etc...

I'm sure you could raise up some sources of income... Sponsorshpis, offer dmca notice services etc...

Raise some cash, and lobby, hell you could prob. lobby the gov't on half of the regulations be showing them how your trying to protect people cause your group is anti(free) porn.

I remember years ago someone offering a takedown or copyright violation sevice, but nothing similar since or at least not on a larger scope.

Good luck on that one ace.

This industry is full of mercenaries. It always has been. That is not going to change. People are only concerned about themselves, their own money, and self interests. Those who talk about the 'greater good' typically are those being forced out of business. Or an old time BRO no longer competitive, lazy and longing for the good ole days or apathetic to the way of the 2010 web.

You will never unite this industry.

People have been suggesting this for as long as I can remember. Two things you can know for sure about the adult industry. They will not join together for a common good and then when things don't go their way they will bitch about not having someone to stand up for them.

Good luck. AlphaSky tried to limit how much of there own porn websites gave out and half the people here crucified her.

Paul Markham 07-28-2010 02:23 AM

Good luck on making that happen.

LongBG 07-28-2010 02:24 AM

Yes, luck is really what you need and lots of it..

pradaboy 07-28-2010 02:28 AM

EVERYONE said that about the music industry before Steve Jobs managed to unite the industry.

I do think it is possible. However, not because someone thinks they can halt free content. You need a better reason.

Like launching iTunes Music Store for porn. Get together the top 5/10/20 programs/producers and just make the VERY BEST porn experience ever. Charge a reasonable price and make it VERY VERY easy.

Crying about free content isn't going to unite anyone because anyone with half a brain realises that is never going to happen. Uniting people to MAKE MONEY...now that is something that might happen.

This is a good point. The only reason the music industry decided to work together with Jobs was because he showed them that doing so would make them more money.

The only real way it could be done with this industry is by using the same ideal. If joining a group or working with others helped you make more money, people would do it. But until that day comes along it's not going to happen.

I'm not suggesting the entire industry has to unite, just that certain people could come together to start it. I don't think it has to be industry wide to start, or to suceeed.

Laws need to change or this industry is going to stay like it is now until people stop making money off of giving the milk away for free.

Will they change, possibly, but only because hollywood is going though a similar situation, and gov'ts are broke and the lost $ in the economy could help with taxes etc.

People talk about everyone being mercenaries and making their own buck. But the well's running low, and the way things are going its still getting worse.

magicmike 07-28-2010 05:27 AM

And whats with all this luck everyone keeps wishing ... does our industry need to win powerball or something?
