If you're paying, I'll help.

Sausage 07-25-2010 08:50 AM

No thanks ... most of the info is out there for free and i had to learn it the hard way. A lot more I have had to spend 4-5 years testing, and there is no way I am giving up my edge by posting it here.

Hire a 'SEO Expert' ... every AWM is a 'SEO Expert' nowadays. :)

Though seriously there are a few good SEO guys for hire, but nobody under around $200-1000 an hour. Anyone who charges less than that is a fraud or is only helping with basic crap that anyone should know. Then again those who charge that aren't always a good deal either .. do a lot of research before you get someone.

Correct.

You simply need to do the reading, and then be dillegent enough to do the work. It is not as simple as some think. There are some that are myths, and others that are spot on. You simply have to read, research, trial and error. Or pay someone..

you forgot to mention the most important part: "you need to THINK" :winkwink:

copying what other do is easy, coming up with new things requires creativity.....

Use unique IPs
Update your index page at least 2x a week.
Have a news site write an article about your site and link to you.
Target your keywords by niche DO NOT be too general!

Here is the 3 keys to search engine traffic...

3) Build an actual good site, update it often.
2) Use page titles that match search phrases people already search for.
1) And finally, get backlinks then get more backlinks, link to various pages throughout your site, use good and crap anchor text.

Ignore the rest of the seo crap and just build the site. Backlink build slow and steady, give the domain time to age before you expect miracles.

Jakez 07-25-2010 10:16 AM

You could do all the reading you want and a lot of it is going to help (the basic stuff) but until you put what you've learned to the test you really won't know what exactly to do and what to not.

I'm sure mainstream and adult SEO are vastly different and some of the stuff you read could be way off what you need to be doing. Experience is the winner.

Probably a good read (I'm reading it), but:

"Remember - Google may be going public soon - so the more traffic you send t hem the better." :Oh crap that page must be older than Jesus.

Edit: and it's telling me to use smart invisible text? WTF?

"Use H1 Tags for your entire page (except the title and other header information). You can use CSS Style sheets to make them look smaller and Google will give you bookoo points for having everything so big on the page (even though it doesn't look big to the user)."

"Dots, Dots, and More Dots. Put them at the bottom of your document like this:
.............
Then link each one to your pages - make sure you link one to Google and for good measure another to Yahoo. Don't link to other sites (other than your own) that aren't search engines. Don't even link to sites that used to be search engines - like AltaVista. "

"Be careful spelling. Words like "PENS" and "ANGINA" can easily be mispelled to be words of the male and female anatomy respectively. This will cause Google to mistake your site for an ADUL† Site - and get it banned. Noticed how I used a special character to look like the letter "T" in the word before site. Use clever tricks like this throughout your documents."

lmao is this for real..

Ok I think I've been joked. :(

Correct, other sites linking to your site and various pages. End of the day, it's all about backlinks. Get them from direct link trades, content link trades, swap blog post links with others, swap with your other sites, social bookmarks/social networks, make blog comments, forum signatures, link lists that don't use scripts, gallery posts that don't use scripts, buy the links, directories, other search engines, adult search engines, and any other place you can get a link.

I'm an SEO consultant and I tell all my clients SEO is three prong:

A: Site structure, your site has to be built in such a way google and other spiders can find it and read it. If your feeding the spider duplicate content or if the spiders cant find your content because your linking structure is fucked you aren't going to get far.

B: Content, your going to need to feed the spiders content. The more content you have the better long tail search your going to have.

C: Links - Although I have this listed last it is the most important, you can take a one page site with a tiny bit of content drop a ton of anchored links on it and you will rank.

When you hire an SEO in most cases they will fix your site structure, give you a content strategy but most important either connect you to a link network that they have established or use a team of link builders to develop your inbound links. Generally the only difference between the $50-$500 per hour SEO are their existing link networks. The $50 SEO will build your links from scratch the $500 SEO will attach you to an existing industry network and you will see results almost instantly.

:thumbsup

We still consider description meta important because if nothing else its your pitch in the SERPs. If your descriptions are clear and concise people will be more interested in checking out your website.

work hard

Yahoo keywords:
married dating
dating married women

Google, still working on it:thumbsup

You don't have to be #1, just 1-5

mafia_man 07-25-2010 11:29 PM

Code to standards.

Don't flood metatags with keywords, in fact don't use metatags period. They're redundant now. Use good meta descriptions that are relevant.

Don't pay for hard coding links on spam sites.

If someone claims to be an SEO expert then run like the fucking wind. It's a glorified title that means shit; the tech buzzword of 2007.

Finally, good content. If your content is shit then you will fail.

When people say 'content' they mean TEXT.

Many noobs think a fancy looking Flash site with videos and pictures will rank well. It can, with a ton of backlinks by overcoming a lack of quality text. It is much smarter, cheaper and easier to build a site that uses high quality original hand-written text with good SEO contextual keywords (not spam).

Without quality content you won't get long tail search, you will rank for your anchor text and only your anchor text.

Funny, I had etology turn down one of the sites in my sig for not enough content which is 95% TEXT.

Funnier: I make shitloads from it!

Yup. It's about text and links. Video etc is valuable because it improves bounce rates and time on site etc unless you have text that people actually want to read. Sad so many 'webmasters' think text is something used to describe content when in fact from an SEO standpoint it's actually the most valuable kind of content.

DamianJ 07-30-2010 04:21 AM

to put it simply

- frequently updated and relevant content
- good domain
- good title tags
- back links
