Chris based it on his life. VERY loosely. Fighting with clay and joel not nearly as entertaining a backgroung as they came up with for the flick, but yes...it IS based around the founding of paycom (epoch for the new folks)

Anyway, about the dates -- the first movie to come out is usually the one that goes into production second. They rush it out to ride on the advertising buzz of the bigger movie. TV movies do it all the time also. Not trying to have a pissing contest, it's just what always happens.
