:pimp

Spunky 07-23-2010 09:19 PM

Morgan wanted to shank his Jewish ass

CheeseHead Nacho Burger 07-23-2010 09:30 PM

I agree with Morgan Freeman 100%!

Dirty Dane 07-23-2010 09:35 PM

"solves racism" vs "solves the race problem"

two titles with different meaning, isn't it? :upsidedow

Interesting perspective either way.

The easiest way to stop racism is to stop teaching kids to be prejudice whether they are white, black or any color in between. Racism is not something you are born with. Babies are not inherently racist. They learn it from their parents and/or friends.

CyberHustler 07-23-2010 10:30 PM

Black people always think they know it all... :upsidedow

Theres some documentary with him, in the deep south, where he integrates a high school prom for the first time. Was OK.

Chosen 07-24-2010 03:31 AM

He's got a point :)

seeandsee 07-24-2010 03:52 AM

Unlike pornogrphers on a messageboards who tend to keep their noses out of such things.

I find it ironic how some people bitch about their right to "feedom of speech" and yet suggest rich and famous people should STFU because they aren't "experts" whatever that means.

For the record I'm not racist. I hate everyone equally.

Kids learn this by observing those around them. We need to stop teaching, by example, group-think to children and teach them, by example, the importance of judging a person on an individual level. Also, many people also derive a large part of their self-identity from the group(s) they feel they belong to. This only perpetuates the problem.

brentbacardi 07-24-2010 06:42 AM

He is right on! Like honestly, I could never figure out why they do this shit, ie. there are two organizations in my area one called the entrepreneurs association and another called the black entrepreneurs association, why are there two separate ones? Do they really have totally different issues to discuss that bringing everyone in on wouldn't work? I don't get it. I think these separations help CAUSE racism... but what do I know about it, im white.

J. Falcon 07-24-2010 06:56 AM

People can't just stop talking about something because you tell them to. And to stop talking about racism is not going to make it go away. It will never go away completely, but education helps a lot more than just ignoring it and forcing people to stop referring to each other as black, Jewish, Hispanic, etc. We use black, white, Jewish, Indian, Arab, to describe people (physically) and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Maybe now when cops take a description they shouldn't even ask the race of the suspect. :Oh crap

I agree that black history is part of American history, but what happens if you back before America was discovered? What about African history?

I agree that racism and potential racism get too much attention in today's society. However Morgan's does not solve shit with his "let's stop talking about it" plan.

DAMNMAN 07-24-2010 04:37 PM

I've been saying this for years, I've been an advocate that the government stop asking this question of "What race are you" on gov forms for years and years.

Who gives a fuck!!!

His point was right on, but now he needs to stop talking about it.

brassmonkey 07-24-2010 08:42 PM

he means that on a daily bases people practice racism. instead of thinking that's a male or female you say that's a black man or white woman. it's done in normal society because it's the norm to be racial. as long as we continue to do this there will be a barrier in race.

I can't believe it - 23 posts so far and not a single black joke. Looks like things are turning around for GFY.... !

John-ACWM 07-26-2010 02:01 AM

A valid point yet it will never be possible. He has a great narrator voice.

Raf1 07-26-2010 02:59 AM

he made a good point there. The guy had no idea that was coming :)

crazytrini85 07-26-2010 04:32 AM

The best way to resolve the racism problem is to get rid of all the people of color.

;-)

Thanks for the post. I knew I liked Morgan Freeman for a reason. :)

PR_Glen 07-27-2010 12:11 PM

he's always the wise all knowing character in the movies he plays, but in real life he says strange out there remarks all the time--just like anyone else I guess. This is not one of those times though, sounds pretty spot on in my opinion.

When saying we should 'stop talking about it' he is not saying we should all ignore the problems of racism, but to not go overboard with it and try to repair things from the past, but to move on instead.

I just erased a very long post; probably one of my best ever.

I erased it because I realized that truthful discussions about history don't make a
difference to people who have their minds made up about certain things and are in
denial about other things.

The reality I saw is that you don't really deserve the knowledge I had in that post.

You deserve google and a history book to explain all of your questions;
because it is actually crystal damn clear how these things came about to anyone
who actually cares enough to understand it.
