Coca-Cola is considering cutting ties with the agency that created a Facebook campaign that parents accused of targeting children by using references to a notorious pornographic movie.

The soft-drinks giant, which has come in for heavy criticism after running a racy Facebook campaign for the Dr Pepper brand, has told the agency that it must stop all advertising work on Coca-Cola brands until a decision is reached on whether to terminate the relationship.

"We have stopped all our ongoing work with [digital agency] Lean Mean Fighting Machine and are currently reviewing our relationship with the agency," said a spokeswoman for Coca-Cola GB.

Yes but it tastes so good. One of the best pleasures I have is every afternoon, cracking open an ice cold soda (not Coke brand - too expensive - Sams Club soda) and having some roasted peanuts. Ah, heaven.

it is actually, it nearly killed my mother-in-law, they heavy acid base of the drink over 30 years ate several holes in her digestive system. The flavor of coke is the mix of 2 highly corrosive acids and corn syrup. Take some coke, put a piece of metal (say like skate board bearings) in the coke, leave it for 2 days and come back. Tell me after you see the metal is no longer there you will drink coke again...

Pretty weird move for Doctor Pepper, mostly kids drink that stuff. I always though DP was Pepsi and Mr Pibb was coke, guess I've had that backwards all these years.

Pretty smart move on the Coke people's part, essentially stealing publicity that Pepsico paid for. Coke has a good sized bible thumper demographic too.

Weird. In Australia Dr Pepper (when it was available) was distributed by Cadbury Schweppes, which also does Pepsi/Sunkist/Mountain Dew/7up. I never knew Dr Pepper was a Coke brand.

Word up on that! I have an older cousin that was sharp as a tack mentally,
was a manager of a post office. He drank Coke by the case and still has cases
stacked up in his basement.

Well, he now resides in a nursing home, is wheel chair bound after suffering a stroke
and the doctor claims constantly downing all those soft drinks over the years helped
put him there. He has to be spoon fed and can't even talk any more. I"m sure there were
other contributing factors obviously and he didn't live the healthiest lifestyle in general.

DP is part of the Snapple Group - not Pepsi or Coke. That's why you will see it in places that offer Coke and/or Pepsi products.

Just so happens that my wife works high up in that world and trust me this can kill an agency very very easily.

Negative press for agencies in brand marketing is BAD
Its not like in Adult or small mainstream agencies where "edgy" is good and bad press is just marketing

Ah wow...didn't realize the people behind Snapple did all that too. Dr. Pepper and 7UP have always been my faves.
