I can't believe how many big sites and sponsor programs don't have a favicon. They are a pain in the ass to make but I love pixel art and that's basically all they are.

IMHO, they are an important part of your brand. They sit next to the url in the address bar, and next to your link if users bookmark your site. If you don't have one, it's just an ugly white square.

theres enough generators online that do a splendid job on this for free.

If 5 bucks is too steep for you, then use the generators. Logos look real nice squished down to 16 pixels:1orglaugh

btw, the tube sites in your sig have no favicon. Even the sponsor program in BOTH our sigs has no favicon!
