issues arising from the WMC problem
 

just a general warning to webmasters, make sure all the programs that you're signed up to have valid and up-to-date contact information on file. make sure you verify any ICQ or instant messenger accounts you have for them also.

we had a fair sum of money stolen from us from a few accounts from the WMC issues, where programs were contacting the icq contact on file with them asking if they'd like to have the payout switched to epassporte instead of checks. in our case the contact on file with these accounts was an older icq number and they actually had detailed information about us to know what to say to convince the program that the epassport account they gave them was ours. which of course it wasn't.

we have a bit of information on the situation that happened to us, but we're still gathering evidence. just a heads up and general warning from this confusing time.

That sucks, did you at least get their ePass closed?

no, do you happen to know how to go about that? although with what they have as their epass account name i'm sure they transferred it out as soon as it hit it. still would be good to stick it back to them atleast that much.
