Face Your Fears: What Are They?

My wife & I were discussing this last night because of some random thing that caught our ears on tv. So the question is: What is your worst fear? We both gave it thought and finally agreed on the same thing:

#1: One of us becoming deathly ill or not coming home at all because of a car crash or something else equally as horrible. Aside from this, I don't believe there is much I can't handle.

But that seemed kind of obvious and non-fun, so let's hear the next 4 in line.

#2: Being falsely accused of something, in any country, and having to defend against it with a 50/50 possible outcome of prison. I'm reasonably sure I'd take myself out before I'd spend life in the slam.

#3: Becoming paralyzed. I'd rather be dead.

#4: Becoming deaf. I'd go insane.

#5: Bad things happening to my kids. This falls in at #5 because my kids are grown now. My stress over them has greatly decreased with their being old enough to take care of themselves.

So let's hear it. What gives you nightmares? :rasta

thickcash_amo 07-22-2010 08:12 AM

Crashing my car into water, and not being able to get out. Having to have a panic attack for how ever long it takes for my car to fill up and knowing I am going to die.....scares the shit out of me!!

Meh... it's a fairly harmless exercise. Unless of course you actually hang out with porn people. For me that's not a problem. 3 feet away from this computer the whole porn world ceases to exist for me.

Raf1 07-22-2010 08:26 AM

going blind maybe

seeandsee 07-22-2010 08:27 AM

lost of close family, to get some dead shit

fatfoo 07-22-2010 08:27 AM

My fear is that people communicate with deadly signs.
They yell death threats as a joke.

Paul Markham 07-22-2010 08:29 AM

Eva and I both faced number one in the last two years. We both dodged the bullet.

Would put something happening to our daughter as the next.

Had nightmares about falling from a great height my whole life.

Went up this tower yesterday and there was no way I could go on the glass bit of the floor :(

Check. :thumbsup It's terrifying. It is good to fear this.

My fears are:

1) Losing my closest loved ones.

2) Not being able to provide.

3) Having an accident that would render me useless and bedridden, a burden on my family.

I have that same fear. There is a small tool you can put in your car that will break your window https://www.saveyourlife.us/

LeRoy 07-22-2010 01:51 PM

I have a few

- Losing my daughter or her getting injured
- Losing friends and family
- Going deaf and not being able to hear music.

NaughtyRob 07-22-2010 02:00 PM

Fear of heights. I have faced it many times and still afraid.

CDSmith 07-22-2010 02:13 PM

Wow, I must be the most ambivalent fucker on the face of the planet, because none of the above would be on my list of official fears I have. I suppose it's that life is going to be what it's going to be in those regards. Of course life is what you make it, but the term "shit happens" also applies whether we like it or not. Fearing it or worrying about it isn't going to stop said "shit" from happening, so I'm simply not going to waste my time doing it.

I figure life is in many ways out of your control. It's like sitting around a poker table waiting for your cards. Do I sit there worrying about whether I'll get dealt a shitty hand? No, because you can still find a way to enjoy some 'win' even with the shittiest of hands. Same with life, things are going along great for you and then BAM, you get dealt a shitty hand. Big whoop, you pick yourself up, look around, and figure out how to make the best of it.

But if it's death? Whatever. Death is going to be what it's going to be, for all of us. I see no point in worrying about or fearing something that is inevitably going to catch up to all of us. Doesn't mean I wouldn't try to find my way out of a sinking car or dig my way out of an avalanche, etc. It just means that I'm not about to waste a second of my life worrying about when and how it will get me.

However, spiders tend to creep me out a bit. And bats. Bats give me the willies.

epitome 07-22-2010 02:30 PM

My biggest fear is that doctors keep blaming my problems on my Crohn's Disease and that there is something far more serious brewing that they are not catching.

Like the surgery I had a few weeks ago was supposed to fix everything and I felt good for a few days after and am right back to square one.

You wouldn't like it around here then. Every evening just as the sun is going down, thousands of bats drop down out from under the roof tiles and fly around like lunatics for a while until it's all the way dark, then they head off to wherever bats go. Every morning as the sun is coming up, they come back, fly around like crazed drunken bats and crawl back up under the roof tiles to sleep for the day.

Oh it's a scene man. :rasta

I agree, it was pretty terrifying for me also at first, but as soon as they start, everything goes dark. You can't see or feel a thing. That's what made it okay for me. If I had been able to see while they did it, I would've freaked out.

Spunky 07-22-2010 06:33 PM

I don't know how blind people do it..mad respect for them.I agree with the paralyzed part..I couldn't do it

Because of the injuries I sustained during Desert Storm...I have the real possibility of becoming paralyzed at some point in time...so it is #3 for me...and even though it would probably relieve me of the mind numbing pain I suffer 24/7...yeah I too rather be dead.

calvinawe 07-23-2010 03:39 AM

the most common fear of humans is being buried alive, guess that sortof applies to everyone here

A simple (legal) Advanced Directive takes care of that fear easily. Just have it drawn up that you wish to be cremated instead. Guaranteed you won't ever be buried alive.

dicksman42 07-26-2010 07:45 AM

My worst fear would be being blind. Not seeing what's happening around me just would fuck me up.The next would be being possessed by a demon....I have a very religious background and they think that shits possible, also watching watching too many movies like the Exorcist,Drag Me to Hell, and shit like that.I take that back that is my worst fear...lol

I agree with Your number 3 also
#3: Becoming paralyzed. I'd rather be dead
