Ice Ice Baby

I was looking through my weekly Ticketmaster newsletter of acts coming to Michigan, and was surprised to see Vanilla Ice still out on tour. There were some others like Tears for Fears, among other one hit wonders.

I found it interesting some of the names still out on the road working it decades later.

He does that song live "Hardcore" now. I always thought it was myself.

He was here playing after the Rays game 2 weeks ago. They annouced on the radio like he would play the original version of Ice Ice Baby, but I think he does like a rock version....either way I would have never guess he was still doing concerts.

What a bizarre concert that must be...

pornguy 07-22-2010 08:05 AM

Its all about getting paid.

Vanilla Ice is a talented singer.

Actually, Vanilla ice did a great new version of his song. He renamed "ice Ice Baby" to "Too Cold" turned it into hardcore metal.

I like it!

still no talent. Maybe when he is a enior he can remake with a string quartet or banjo and harmonica duet.

True dat. As long as people are willing to keep paying, I guess you keep touring.

Actually not bad at all, please dont ever quote me on that though :1orglaugh

Good to see them still in business. Some of today's artists don't belong on a stage.

Thanks for defending Tears For Fears. Barefootsies deserves a warning for calling them a one hit wonder. :1orglaugh

If he comes to Europe I can picture 30-35 years old women getting wasted , remembering their good old times :D

kowalsky 07-23-2010 06:17 AM

Tears for fears one hit wonder??? Where have you been living all these years??

A few days ago I saw a MTV program about one hit wonder bands... into that list was MADNESS! Another great band plenty of hits and influence for many bands... unbelieved..

Raf1 07-23-2010 07:54 AM

I tried being objective to his metal song, but sorry, it's still shit...

dicksman42 07-23-2010 11:08 AM

I never liked Ice Ice Baby...but he is still making a very nice living. Could be worse.

Rochard 07-23-2010 11:19 AM

Years ago at a state fair we saw Rick Springfield play. Loved his music in the 1980s, but wouldn't exactly go out of my way in 2001 to buy tickets even if they were dirt cheap. But we were at the fair, it was free, so we decided to go. Turned out to rock. Even in his fifties Rick Springfield was impressive!

J. Falcon 07-23-2010 11:33 AM

He's still the man!

the Man?? come on falcon... he couldn´t even make bass line by himself... ice ice baby´s bassline was stolen from queen's hit under pressure.

Walter Gropius 07-23-2010 01:17 PM

Don't know if you US folks have heard of them but there's an AWFUL pop duo over here called Jedward who recently did a version of Ice Ice Baby with Vanilla Ice - he performed it live with them a few times. Lost a lot of respect for him when he did that!
