Did they ban pre-checked cross sales or what?
I still see some companies doing this...i thought they banned that or do they allow some companies doing a large volume of sales with low CB ratios?

the rules changed- you can still do it

Who is "they"? And what do you mean by "banned"?

The rules changed, it can be prechecked (or not, not to clear on that part) but the person has to re-enter the credit card information so they clearly know they are getting something else also.

A couple of Banks don't allow pre-checks, I'm sure a couple others will jump on board over time. The bank shake down scared the banks. End of the day then, it's up to the bank history, if all is good the bank has the choice, if not the choice is taken away. As of right now the majority of adult friendly banks allow pre-checks.
The way the banks/visa works, if it's not being abused - it won't ever go away. Pre-checks do not abuse the ratios, at all. The the last Visa change was about sharing billing data/cc info with other Companies, which is a privacy violation. So "if you get caught" sharing billing with a different Company, and the person didn't confirm it (like one-clicks work at least) you're going to get fined, maybe get shut down - for sure fined. It has nothing to do with being allowed to do xsales, it has to do with how xsales are done. However, a few different ways to get around it and stay within the rules, that aren't abusing either. That's what you're seeing more of today. |

I wonder if automatic rebill rules will change as well...

I still see a lot of sponsors with pre checked.

If you have your own merchant account and are cross selling to yourself, the consumer is still dealing with the same company so the credit card information has not been shared with another party and therefore would not require the re-entry of credit card data.
Also, if you are using a IPSP like WTSeu, CCbill, etc then the credit card data is only collected by the IPSP, cross sales can occur with different merchants, and no re-entry of data is required. This is my understanding. |
