Took a fish head to the movies
didn't have to pay to get it in. That takes me back... to about 1981-82. When pay tv first became available in Canada. Everyone was pirating it with homemade converters. first movie short I ever saw on there was FISH HEADS. |
Epic!

It's late (or early for some), and I noticed this thread again and remembered the Tim Burton movie "Big Fish". I thought of my Dad (who recently passed away), when I saw this clip:
My Dad loved, and taught me, to fish. One of my favorite books, which he gave to me one year for Christmas, was titled "Trout Fishing in America", by Richard Brautigan. My Dad was a cool dude. I am proud to have had him as a Father. Before he died, he indicated that he did not want to be buried in a cemetery, which he regarded as a sad place. Instead he wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread in the Puget Sound (the Bay surrounding Seattle), so that when anyone from my family went fishing (and we all love fishing) we could visit him when we were out there. To end this post on a happy note, here is Reel Big Fish performing "Take On Me" for the movie "BASEketball" (starring the creators of South Park, to bring this full circle): BTW, I had grilled Rainbow Trout (with shiitake mushrooms) for dinner tonight. :) ADG |
I wonder what kind of drug combo would justify the first video. Monty Python does Psylocybin?

This movie (specially this scene) makes me cry so hard every time!! I am not close with my dad, but its soo sad the way he finally makes peace with him! Such a great movie!! |

My Mother died unexpectedly when I was young. Even though I was close to her, I never had the opportunity to say goodbye, which I regret. With my Dad, I was with him, and he went out on his own terms. I hope to do the same, although not anytime soon. :) It's kind of funny, but one of the first movies I treated my Father to (after years of him taking me to movies), was the Ron Howard movie, "Cocoon", which is a powerful and sentimental movie about growing old and mortality. I almost regretted taking him to see it, but he lived a good time longer (I'm younger than him when we watched it together). It still remains one of my favorite movies: Please see it if you can, it's a beautiful movie. :) ADG |
