Always wanted to drive a DeLorean? Buy a new one!

http://www.delorean.com/

it's a about $65,000 including power upgrade - and no, it's not a Flux Compensator they put in :upsidedow

i'm kind of tempted, but i'm pretty sure it's impossible to import them over here and get a registration - no crash tests, no homologation, no emission tests

cool though :winkwink:

PlugRush Sascha 07-19-2010 02:17 PM

If you can't find something better to spend $65k on, then you're probably rich-as-fuck.

yeah, actually it's a pretty sad story about someone who gave everything, including his life, to build the car of his dreams.

and the CIA played a big part in that

A-n-D-r-E-S 07-19-2010 04:02 PM

That's so cool!!!

justinsain 07-19-2010 04:03 PM

I still remember the day when this fully loaded DeLorean blew past me but I have no idea what year it was from.

To be fair he was trying to build a sports car with a 170 HP engine.

How does a guy who developed the sex-on-wheels GTO get so mixed up he thinks people will buy a 170 HP silver bullet?

You know the supreme irony of this movie is that 88 miles per hour was the Delorean's actual top speed.

ThumbLord 07-19-2010 04:30 PM

OMFG if it would only be accepted by the dutch rules as in crash tests, homologation, emission tests and the like.

BruceM 07-19-2010 04:44 PM

Find one that could actually do that and not off a cliff, and it was truly something astounding. Now if it could time travel, fine - but 90 in a delorean!?

These cars were awesome looking, underpowered, and quite frankly, a complete pile of shit.

That doesn't mean that I don't still want one.

DVTimes 07-19-2010 06:02 PM

it looks so old.

why is it $65k?

it does not look much.

in fact if it was not for the film(s) i bet no one would want one.

Theo 07-19-2010 06:12 PM

It's true only fanboys wanting to get up to 88 would shell out 65k for this thing.

Rochard 07-19-2010 08:04 PM

I went to school with DeLorean's kids.

The car.. By the way, really sucked. Really bad. It was called an exotic car but was very poorly put together.

I've seen one a while ago that was painted red. It looked odd - and everybody at the car show it was at seemed to be saying the owner must be an idiot for painting it.

poncabare 07-20-2010 07:45 AM

the car is cool if your 10
