Ads on Facebook

There must be millions to be made with those ads on facebook (as a mainstream affiliate)

I just need to figure out what works and not... reveal your secrets!!! muahahaha

biskoppen 07-19-2010 08:56 AM

biskoppen 07-19-2010 11:53 AM

TheDoc 07-19-2010 11:59 AM

If you own a product that people buy already, you should do great. If you know exactly, who/what your buying demographics are then it will work out wonderfully for anything you want to sell.

Then try not to direct sell, let them consume information/something for free on the page you advertise, like tips lets say - then pitch them the end product, try to build leads over direct marketing, use the lead generation to market directly. This keeps complaints low, likes high, and a better chance of you getting more branding exposure as more people are willing to visit consumption pages over direct marketing.

I did well on FB ads over a year ago then everyone and their brother started advertising there so I cut the advertising. Used to do really well and if you dug down with a large amount of campaigns that are very specific to a demographic I think you still could do well but it will not be as good as it was. I think our top bid was 5 cents when they 1st rolled out the adsesnse style ads. I looked the other day and for the same clicks we'd be paying 40+ cents.

CunningStunt 07-21-2010 01:36 AM

The traffic is hellishly expensive. :2 cents:

Why pay for those FB ads when you can create a fun page, get tons of fans and send "updates" to those fans? ;)

My results are for the most part similar to Dave's ...

Very high-priced traffic, and not very productive.

I have ran 5 campaigns in the last 6-7 months, and I have not broke even on any one of them ...

Your paying FB for leads :) Use the ads to promote your fan page.

Brad Gosse 07-21-2010 07:38 AM

I have made facebook ads work for me in mainstream.

It's all about the sales funnel. Email capture + One time offer + social proof = conversions.

Right now we make $3-$4.50 for every dollar we spend on facebook ads. My only issue is inventory for niche markets.

Bugbee 07-21-2010 08:50 AM

Depends on what you are selling, I spend about $300 a day on facebook ads and make about $250 a day profit in addition to recouping my ad costs...mainstream of course ;o)

Yup, I thought I've tried it all, and yet nothing.
But If people are claiming they are making money from it, we are missing out on something.

icymelon 07-21-2010 11:43 AM

when I looked into it the cost per click was in the range of 50 cents click and just didnt make sense

Yes, people do that but there's also free ways to get fans. Depending on the niche/theme, fans refer other fans.

what products do you promote?

There is a thing known by few. It's not a secret.
You can get your own interpretation of it. Decide on your own critique.
Facebook allows to "add friends of friends."

Lets see..
You are providing cool gadget, books or diet pils. You can highly target your traffic.
Consider targeting people in rich countries, and peoples above 22,23yo, because its a bigger chance to have CCs.

CRT from fb is terrible. Its about a few % (Highly targeted! ).
So, if you choose PPC method, lets say the price will be from 0.07-0.2$/c.Let choose 0.15$.
And you put $1000 for a campaign. You will have 6666 visits.
Lets say that your conversion ratio could be 1% (its much much smaller! ), that mean you will have about 66 buyers.Your product price must be at least $15 to retrieve fb ad campaign + product price.
Bigger price, less customers.
Less targeted fb campaign means less fb CRT, your CRT and at least less money.
FB ads are not perfect.

Try doing this:

Create a FAN/LIKE page.
Give it a cool name.
Target your ad to this page.
Then spam them via posts and updates.
Consider, more spam -> more removed fans.
FB CRT for a fan page which gives free stuff is about 0.045% !

I've done "ok" doing vacation rentals on there.

I find Craigslist and Kijiji better though...
