Mutt...

Are you like the most careful, advanced planning, getting all ducks in line type of guy when it comes to building sites...

Or are you just a procrastinator? I really dont think its this option...

Just makes me wonder since Ive seen you almost having Jewel out for what, over a year now?

ALmost every single client I have worked with that is trying to get a site out and live is chomping at the bit to launch regardless of testing the system and poking all holes in the system.

Does it take that long to get the ship sailing properly? Or are you building your own traffic up for it for yourself before you make it public?

All these questions arise when I see your jewel button... Feel free to discuss or ignore :thumbsup :pimp

Someone once told me that perfectionism is the highest form of procrastination.

And I believed them, still do.

Linkspun is a pretty good example, I didn't think we were ready, but really wanted to go live. I kept debating waiting until all the little 'bells and whistles' were properly tweaked and ironed out before releasing a PR and opening the doors.

Then I realized that I didn't need it to be perfect in my eyes, I just needed it to be functional, and most of the tweaks and 'bells and whistles' would be better controlled after looking at them with an open user base. So I put it aside and we released.

Wasn't easy, but it was the best thing I could have done. Another month or two in todays market can make all the difference. And its easy to tweak an existing traffic source, and very hard to build reliable new ones.

With all that said, I'm also very curious and eager to see this Jewel..lol It's one of the longest running GFY cock teases ever.

i am the worst combination possible - a procrastinator AND lazy AND a perfectionist :helpme

Jewel launches very soon - waiting for VISA approval and for promo materials, so she'll be in beta mode within the next 10 days.

some people launch too soon - i wouldn't launch a solo girl site with less than 100 photosets and 35 videos in the bank. they rush to get a site out without really branding an identity for the girl.

even with being a procrastinator Jewel is an anomaly, there were special circumstances, only one relating to her, she dyed her hair jet black and it took months to get it back to her natural blonde color - Destiny will be launched soon and then Aspen before Christmas.

if the sites do well enough I have a list of girls that i dropped contact with because it was ridiculous to keep looking for new girls with 3 finished solo girl sites content wise sitting on my hard drive.

and Jewel's site is far from perfect - we had planned to shoot her in more authentic settings - like this site http://www.stmackenzies.com never were able to find that type of location. didn't look hard enough. john is responsible for that.

I opened claudia-marie.com with 5 videos and the accompanying photo sets for each scene. We had over 100 full price membership members within the first week.
BUT, it turned out that she was already "branded" from our band website. I had no idea.

I was shocked at the amount of sales coming in so fast. Then I googled her and found her on a bunch of big tit forums with every band pic I had ever taken and posted. And when her site came out they were all breathlessly posting that finally she was naked and getting fucked.

So I guess we had a giant jump start without even trying to have one.

Unintentional viral marketing at it's best lol

Comedy "She got her doctorate and is doing postgrad with no time to do any more scenes" option?

well Claudia Marie is a mature woman and your wife or gf - you knew she would be around so you could launch with a small amount of content and keeping updating. i'm talking about 18-22 year olds, if you launch a site with 20 sets and 5 videos they could and do disappear - so you're left with a dead site and pissed affiliates.

Yep, I don't envy you for that at all. I knew I could just keep on shooting. You have to worry about her getting a boyfriend and quitting. :(

Good point. Perfectionism is often used as an excuse. Be that as it may, perfectionism mixed with METHOD can produce stellar results.

BigDeanEvans 07-18-2010 03:41 PM

I was like that when I put my first site out. I sat on it for 6 months. For me, I think i was just plain ol' scared of failing. But I think my first week I did 10k in sales and the rest is history.

There's another saying, 'Perfection is the enemy of the good."

The Porn Nerd 07-18-2010 04:03 PM

When I started in Dec. '09 my partner said: "Do you want the sites to be perfect or do you wanna pay your rent?" So I launched 6 of them, and it took me another two months to create "a network" for them to link to. Best thing I ever did, because if I waited until I felt my shit was "ready" it would've been another 6-8 months, at least, and I would've never gotten this thing off the ground.

GO FOR IT and work out the kinks later.

dooglas 07-18-2010 08:08 PM

We may have to wait for a while but Mutt's sites are all quality. I'd rather wait and promote a quality site rather than a crappy one that closes in 3 months. :)

But arent you guys married or something? No chance of her dropping off the planet to stop making content like most other solo girls? Not talking about her being viral. About the starting with only 5 movies part.

AZNNC 07-18-2010 10:11 PM

He had to wait for Chris Bosh to get traded.

spunky99 07-18-2010 11:04 PM

he's gonna wait till the maple leafs win the stanley cup

Heck I would have opened with 5 scenes anyway. lol
I'm always the guy who moves real fast with stuff. I guess I'm just impatient and love to work. So far it's served me well in everything I've done in this business, not just the CM site. I guess I've been real lucky.

But Mutt has a real good point about wanting to shoot a couple hundred scenes because of the possibility of her quitting. The difference in our personalities in regard to that is...I would have gotten hyped up and excited and shot 300 scenes in a few months if that was what was in my head.

I get a little crazy like that. lol

EDIT: And I suppose that even if he does get all those scenes shot, in this day and age of piracy her being interactive with the members of the website is gonna be CRUCIAL. So even if he does get a lot of scenes shot, he still needs to work his butt off to keep her involved.

In other words...in my humble opinion he should open the doors as fast as he can and get that project making money. But that's just how I would do it. Everybody runs things differently. There is no "right way" for everybody.

quantum-x 07-18-2010 11:34 PM

Different business models, I guess.
You can hedge your bets with one site, and hope you haven't missed the boat, or you can do the BGB approach - multiple sites, all with a relative degree of success, global MA, so if one girl drops off, you've still got multiple updates.

Mutt 07-18-2010 11:48 PM

no the Jewel thing had nothing to do with any business/marketing strategy, it was all procrastination on my part and some other personal stuff. i didn't want to launch sites close together - i wanted them at least 4 months apart but I have no option now, i'm doing Destiny at the same time, hoping to have her in beta a month after Jewel launches. And then Aspen Parker before Christmas. I hope they all do well, there's been a real slowdown in the solo girl niche as far as new sites and girls.

here's a couple new Destiny shots from a few weeks ago, unedited.
