It really depends which part of the business you want to enter.

Affiliate/Lead generation
Free Dating site
Paid Dating site

Obviously as an affiliate it just takes a little time and grunt work. The investment to start is quite cheap.

Free dating sites can be started with out of the box software and are a great way to get your feet wet.

Paid dating sites really require custom software which could cost quite a bit of money. $10k+, and most likely over $50k depending on the avenue you choose to develop the software.

How so? Are the late night "Love Line" or "party chat" phone chats a scam? They are all filled with actresses playing the part of real girls interested in what the guy has to say. Most of these sites skate by with carefully worded fine print in their terms. That doesn't mean there aren't real users on the sites. I met one of my now very good friends on an adult dating site. lol

Who gives a shit what it is, I make $$$$$$$$$$$$ on it

I know someone who has a custom dating site + backend etc they may be willing to sell as they have not really spent the time to push it.

Dating is great as long as they can hold onto their processing.
Right now all is good, but for how long, who knows.

As with every part of the business, there are indeed guys taking advantage of the situation and running cross sales on "free dating" sites. As long as those stay in the minority the dating market has the ability to grow and morph into something even more profitable. Dating is an extension of social media. If played right, dating sites can become social media powerhouses.

Guy, I know people like to come to GFY and say 'everything is fine, porn has been dying for 15 years according to these idiots!' but the facts remain. The industry is suffering worse than ever right now, that's probably why you and many other notable names are on here looking for work. I didn't say there was no money in porn, I said dating and porn are dying businesses. This is true for their current forms only, as mentioned earlier Facebook / MySpace work just fine as free dating sites and everyone is already using one or the other.

Im amazed Sharky isnt retired by now.

Just curious why you wouldnt use that knowledge to become a full time dating affiliate? If you could generate 30 joins a day (which as you know is not alot for a decent dating affiliate) you'd make FAR, FAR more than anyone would ever pay salary / consulting wise. Seems like a no brainer for someone whos been in the game as long as you have.
