Who's fault is this?

I got this from a sponsor yesterday and I really don't know what to do. They're one of my main sponsors. It's not MY fault that their sites don't retain. What should I do?

"Guys at billing told me there's a little issue with your traffic, apparently the thing is that you make a lot of sales but only trials. As none of those trials are actually converting into monthly subscriptions XXXXX is losing money. Would you mind switching your linkcodes to 60% revshare until we can find a better solution for this issue?"

I can almost smell the shave machine firing up already.
:disgust

Agent 488 07-13-2010 07:12 AM

drop them. what you going to get? fifty cents per sale?

CIVMatt 07-13-2010 07:20 AM

Exactly... why even give it another thought

JenC 07-13-2010 07:22 AM

Well because like I said they are one of my fave sponsors and I make a lot of money with them. I hate trying out new sponsors to find one that actually works. Plus the little issue of changing hundreds of link codes.

Oh well. I'll figure something out. Thanks for your feedback.

apparently that aren't making a lot of money with you though

BlackCrayon 07-13-2010 07:28 AM

i think its funny they blame your traffic. if they sign up to a trial, its the sponsors job to convert it unless you use misleading advertising offering something the sponsor doesn't have..

tranza 07-13-2010 07:31 AM

Well, I do value that they tried to contact you, to reach a solution.

But I guess I agree with Matt and Agent 488, I'd drop them.

:(

erooup 07-13-2010 07:34 AM

Ask them to make a better membersection so the sales you make, stays for more than 5 seconds

Raf1 07-13-2010 07:37 AM

I agree with what the others have said here. Drop them.

seeandsee 07-13-2010 08:04 AM

maybe it's just fault of member area that is not big quality

Chosen 07-13-2010 12:06 PM

Yeah members area probably sucks big time...

Caligari 07-13-2010 12:10 PM

yes "a little issue with your traffic" complete bollocks. if they sign up, its the sponsors job to convert.

drop em like a turd.

crazytrini85 07-13-2010 12:17 PM

adapt or die

ruff 07-13-2010 12:23 PM

This is an early warning sign for you. You need to lose them before they rip you completely. Blaming your traffic because it doesn't rebill or move out of the trial to membership is desperation. Companies are dropping like flies around here. Closing out affiliates and generally just ripping webmasters off. This company is probably one of the next ones to crash.

IllTestYourGirls 07-13-2010 12:40 PM

Drop them. Im sure they are making money off the cross sales no?

fuzebox 07-13-2010 02:01 PM

Paying per signup is a hard thing to do. There is no reason for a sponsor to give you free money if your sales are not meeting their average retention.

Programs set their PPS rates based on their average earnings per member, and if you fall below that it is expected that they will switch you to revshare. Hell, it should be in the terms and conditions when you sign up.

The entitlement in this thread is alarming :Oh crap

You're kidding right? Is there two kinds of traffic out there? The first kind joins and rebills over and over and the second kind just takes the trial and leaves? Tell me how to get the first kind. These sites that pay $300 a sign up, do you honestly think that is on the level? So far what I've seen is sponsors pretty much do whatever they want with impunity. They can change the terms and conditions, change your pps to revshare after you have their links spread to kingdom come or just steal your money. Entitlement in porn? hahahahahahahaha

JenC 07-14-2010 06:28 AM

When I told them that I wasn't going to change to revshare they said they would "handle it in another way".....meaning I think they're gonna shave the crap out of my sales.

Agent 488 07-14-2010 06:30 AM

create a new account. grab pps links codes. swap links.

Times are tough, but it is not your job to retain the members.

I would let them know that and tell them to fix their members areas to keep members
happy. Also let them know that if they switch your account they will not make anything
on you at all. Because you will switch sponsors.
