FLV or MP4 for Legal Tube Sites ???
 

Ok been speaking to a few people about submitting to legal tube sites... To this end I am now speaking with my video editor about putting the videos together for this...

We believed it had to be FLV's... but he is recommending MP4 as the format.

So my question is this, what do you guys recommend and more importantly what actually will work... do the legal adult tubes accept MP4's ? I am told these will be better quality... but no good having them made if they wont work...

Opinions please :helpme

Also if anyone out there runs a legal tube site, how do I get our stuff on your network ? :thumbsup

MP4 is all around better, smaller files with better quality. If you have any other questions you can bug me on icq.

You can play MP4 videos via most flash players too. No real reason to convert to FLV.

So the software that runs a tube site, should be able to play MP4's and FLV's the same... just dont know what most people use... dont want to create a bunch of MP4's if no one can use them... every one seems to talk about FLV's and FLV Dumps/Exporters ??? :helpme

regardless which one you do, if your using wowza or FMS then it wont matter. However lighttpd or nginx require different modules to stream each one, without these modules your streaming will just be a "progressive" download without the ability to jump around until you download the whole video.

With that being said, even with those modules installed and configured. Your video files still need their meta keys indexed or else you wont be able to jump and skip. However Wowza and FMS both take care of this.

We have seen numerous affiliate programs put out flvs without their index keys causing webmasters headaches and putting in tickets "why can't I jump around on x y z movies? others work fine"

If your encoding yourself, do MP4s. Its better quality and takes up less space.

Thanks I will pass this info onto my tech guy... the guy cutting the videos is our video editor and think he is pretty clued up :) But again I will show him what you put...

Sorry for being a little nieve however... but not sure what all the Wowza and FMS are... are they platforms for Tube sites ??? We wont be running our own tube site, but looking to submit these to legal adult tube sites, and have affiliates grab them for their own use...

So just want to be clear what is best for affiliates... flv's or mp4's ??? Hope you can clear that one up :thumbsup

mp4 - videos can also be used for mobile devices.

sometimes mp4 doesnt steam with certain flash players. I would stick with flv. mp4 is better quality but you could have issues with certain tube sites

Either or, if its a serious tube it wont be a problem.

We've been using FLV for our FHG videos. Is it time to switch those to mp4 as well?

I guess we will uterlise some of the clips like that too... but the primary use in for the legal tubes... just want to make sure we get it right... time to go look a few up and see if we can submit MP4's lol
