They did that everywhere, been a news story in Denmark that they did it here as well, hardly a "mistake"

Not a mistake from googles side.. They just got caught!

Another reason to secure your Wifi.

I love how the governments bitch about Google doing this and then ask for the data :)

How did they collect data, were they connecting to wireless network without wep key or it was something like data sniffing?

Sniffing unencrypted packets.

Thought for the day: if the "privacy" departments of affected countries inspect the data are they invading the user's privacy? What if they find something illegal?

I like the way they say they did it by mistake as if it was some sort of accident and the cars were doing it of their own accord.

Luckily computers don't have a mind of their own and require programmers to tell them what to do. It's no accident, that's for sure.

Both facebook and Google got their seed money from CIA fronts so you shouldn't be surprised.

Companies like google, facebook, microsoft, apple, etc. have so many users and data, it would be a surprise if the CIA wasn't interested. The EU even has to open up the books to the US on all EU bankwires for people and businesses. Some countries goverments even require Skype to have a backdoor for them to tap data and intel from as they require.
