Anyone have DirecTV and can tell me if its any good?

I am moving to Southern California and the local cable company is Time Warner which I'll need for internet but I am a sports freak and Directv seems to have pretty much all the sports channels in HD. Can anyone say good or bad things about it?

I have it and all the sports packages..it's great! I love getting every baseball, football, basketball or hockey game in HD. Plus you get every other channel in hd too. :)

I've had it long enough to be out of contract for the last couple of years. If it weren't for their sports packages, I'd probably just go with whatever I could get OTA, as we don't watch much else.

I get great reception. In all the time I've had it, I've lost signal a handful of times, during torrential downpours. It always comes back very quickly.

Love my DirecTV. I'm someone else who is long since 'out of contract' and still stick with them. Great time to be a new customer too because TW, Dish Network and DirecTV are in a nice battle with online sources so they will do anything to get you to sign up, and we've finally reached the point where there is no upsell for HD. Just make sure you get the big DVR with the biggest hard drive they have available. That HD content fills em up fast!

Its cool long as it dont rain or snow alot where you live...i used to work in a direct tv call center trying to win back customers who left. Most of them were from the northwest and upper midwest where the weather is shitty alot

I've had DTV for like 14 years now and would never have anything else, blows away any cable HD picture out there.

Have DTV currently, but I'm still not happy about getting locked into a 3-year contract. And they are too expensive. You can't get a decent channel package unless you get the Premium Ultra Super Duper Uber Exclusive Beef Supreme Package, and then you still have to fork extra for Sunday Ticket and PPV events, and so it's just too much money per month for tv when there's still nearly nothing on worth watching.

If I could dump them without getting shafted with the ETF, I would.

I have had DirecTV for over seven years. I sent you an icq message to see if you had any specific questions.

I use DTV and only had a few problems. Occasionally it seems like if there is a heavy mist in the air it goes out. We are on our third TiVO with them and it is dying. the other two just stopped working. Good thing about it is they are pretty easy to work with and reasonable when it comes to charges

When I lived in California, I had this pansat box. It picked up ALL channels from Dish Network And the Canadian Bell Express-vu one...

All free. Every channel... Dunno if they still work though...
