T. Boone Pickens: Blowing up Gulf well 'worst idea I've ever heard'
|
that's interesting.. i suppose the pressure of the water would be a significant factor in creating a crater
|
I have been looking over various articles on what Bill Clinton actually said. You know, the actual words that came out of his actual mouth. I find a discussion where he's asked if he's thinking about what if the two relief wells fail, and he seems to be speculating that if BP cant do anything else, about all you could probably do is get the navy to blow it up and try to seal it under tons of rock and debris. And for that speculation he gets "Clinton on Oil Spill: Just Blow It Up".

Blowing up a huge oil reserve... Obama's got this. Don't worry.
|
Attempting to blow it up has always been a bad idea.
Although it probably doesn't matter anymore. They're never going to get that leak stopped if those relief wells don't work. BP doesn't have a fucking clue, and so far nobody else seems to either. And now there's a potential hurricane brewing, and they're already sending the skimmers in. I said this a while back and it's proving to be true... this one will be biblical. |

russia has closed many wells this way..i think 9?
anyway, because of this holes location it is not certain if it would do anything except open a much bigger hole. so blowing it with a low yield nuke wont cut it....perhaps if they could just blow the actual tubes, and then dump concrete or something iron plates...on top...who knows...it might just come right up through it anyway |

This would not be the first time an oil well was blown up.
|
Not sure how deep the well hole is, but I don't see why putting a Normal charge about half way down to collapse the hole that was dug, replacing the normal earth with normal pressures on both ends.
Another way, take a steel rod bigger in diameter than the hole, taper one end several sizes smaller than the hole, and drive that sucker in the hole, till the size of the steel is bigger than the hole. Kinda like plugging the hole like a cork, but a huge steel rod. Just some quick simple thoughts! |

They would never do such a thing. |
