I'm in a small town just outside of Charlotte and I didn't see anyone paying a bit of attention to the game. Every dumpy hillbilly in this town is more worried about "Knobby" than soccer.

Well that is sort of the idea isn't it? A country is not that interested BUT you put a good product on the field and many start to take notice.

The "sheep" are future fans and good for the sport. Sure you will have band-wagoners that will lose interest again if you have a losing team on the field but the goal is to have a quality competitive product on the field. Interest will come with time.

We're a HUGE soccer town. There are at least 40 Bars and Pubs here packed just like that one.

I'm guessing it will be kind of like the women's world cup when the USA won it. We packed stadiums, had big ratings and the nation as buzzing over it. Then a few months after it was over everyone forgot about soccer again. If the US can get out of the next round I think it will be big news ad a big deal here in the states, but as soon as the NFL season starts it will go back to being just like it was before.
