To those marketing Mobile Traffic

Has there been significant trends recently about what types of niches have been benefiting from mobile traffic?

We get all these reports late last year that the not-so-adult adult apps in iPhone have been generating revenue to some companies who have the resources to jump into the mobile bandwagon.

Now that we are in the second quarter of the year, is there more substantial evidence that would make mobile traffic a more viable source of business to all those who have been on the fence about it?

Every niche benefits from mobile traffic. Regardless of niche, your site has on average 3-5% mobile traffic if not more now.

With iPhone 4 coming out too, it's gonna just continue to grow. I'd get off the fence start doing something with mobile or it's gonna be too late.

And out of that 3 - 5 % maybe less than 1% will actually sign up and make money for you. So if you want to do all that work for 1% you'd better get on it.

Think about the PC online for a minute. How many people are actually looking at porn? Very little, then how many are looking to buy vs. looking at free? Much less... then how many actually get sold? A very tiny amount of the global traffic - maybe 1%.

That 3-5% that mobile has, is one of the most powerful group of consumers in the world. And those were the same consumers the PC world "had" that now use mobile devices instead of the PC.

The % of PC sales is already super low and it's dropping as the % of mobile sales explodes and is already surpassing non-mobile sales with rather little effort.

Have you dabbled in mobile at all? Cause if only 1% is joining, then you are doing something wrong.

IMHO: Companies need to have a mobile presence to stay competitive. The question isn't if you have mobile traffic, its a matter of monetizing what you have. Currently there are 3 ways:

1) Send it to a program with an existing mobile program (word on the street is TopBucks is KILLINg it:thumbsup)

2) Work with a mobile company like Spankmo that will build your mobile site for no cost but split the recurring revenue with you

3) Use an inexpensive mobile CMS like Elevated X's 1ClicktoMobile and keep all the profits (or break it off to your affiliates if you're a affiliate program)

Either way, it's an additional revenue stream and if you're not doing anything with your mobile traffic, you're leaving money on the table.

I would advise the 2nd option (not Spankmo :warning)

Creating your mobile service is not the only thing you have to think about. As all of you did on the web, you need to find the right billing provider and there are no worldwide good billing provider.

So unless you have a lot lot lot of time to seek all the billing providers opportunities, optimized your service (landing page, billing process etc.) you'll need to go through a mobile company that have the knowledge to figure out those points for you.

100K a month traffic, 4% mobile traffic that is 4k, 1% converts, that is 40 sales :)

1% is 1:100, that is not bad ratio if you ask me...

At Cold Hard Cash, we've had a lot of success with our mobile site for HDPorn... we also offer webmasters a great whitelabel solution for them to jump into the mobile marketplace... Please contact me for details!

Barry-xlovecam 07-30-2010 09:53 AM

At xlovecam we redirect all mobile traffic to our mobile platform automatically.

There is nothing special for you to do, regular PC traffic stays on our Flash site.

Our mobile platform is non-Flash so it is iOS (iPhone-iPad) compatible.

It is additional money to be made ? whether it is 1:100 or 1:400, every additional sale helps ...
