Maywood, CA Lays Off All City Employees, Dismantles Police Department.
 

After years of mismanagement and corruption, a California city is cutting it's entire government. Presumably this also has to do with the California fiscal crisis that has drained cities of funds and revenue.

This is going to be happening all over Cali. Cities dismantling their local governments, filing bankruptcy, etc... everyone is broke. :(

Pretty small city for $3.6 million annual expenses, isn't it? 100 employees for 1.2 mi.²?

30,000 total population, maybe 100 employees isn't bad.

If I spend more money than I make I'm fucked. I can fudge it for a little bit but I'm fucked. Governments local, state or national aren't immune from this basic fact.
