23 Republican Senators Supported Immigration Reform in 2006 - Under Bush

Now, under Obama, all 23 have flipped.

Coincidence?

that was a big reason why they lost the house and senate in 2006, was because republicans were supporting amnesty. There was a HUGE protest in the republican base, against the amnesty bill, (faxes, and phone calls like crazy), and then the republicans just didn't turn up, come November.

I guess that they figured out, (after losing all of those seats in 2006), that this was a bad idea....

Not really a big conspiracy, they just figured out what pissed their base off so much, that's all.

Except how every poll showed that people were voting against them because of the war and other major fuckups.

This is GFY. Facts are subjective here.

Only thing important in the article is the following.

The 39 Democratic supporters included a freshman senator from Illinois named Barack Obama.

Oops! But now he doesn't either considering the fact his new agenda is implementing proven border security solutions and pushing back hearings and the starting of any Bill procedure until next year after the November elections. He needs all those votes bad...real bad!

Coincidence?

Should they be doing what's best for the COUNTRY not what best for them to get re-elected.

I guess that they figured out, (after losing all of those seats in 2006), that this was a bad idea.... for getting re-elected. Fix it for you.

See most people are fucking retards. They think the elected officials should do what 51% say to do or else. Well why elect people then? You can get a retarded monkey to vote yeah or nay on what 51% of a congressional district wants. Elected officials are there to make decisions and what good for the COUNTRY not go by the dictates of the masses. Most people are too lazy or just fucking dumb to know everything there is on the issues. This is why we have elected officials. They are the ones that are supposed to take the time to keep up with this shit. Now everyone is a fucking expert based on some 5 minute story on Foxnews or CNN.

take health care or "obamacare". If you had the people that felt this was a very very important issue take a test on the actual bill 99% would fail miserably whether they were for it or against it. Though neo-cons and teabaggers would have the lowest of the scores. Yet some people are going to lose their job because they voted for it or they voted against it because their constituency is full of fucking lazy fucktards who can't be bothered with actually looking at an issue in detail.

I agree that going with the majority is sometimes "mob rule" and isn't whats best for the country. At the same time, both parties play to this "majority" thinking. You hear republicans talking about what "the majority of the people" want. I'm so sick of politicians speaking for me..the "people".

If they spoke for me they would be talking about term limits, campaign finance reform, and ending neoliberalism.
