found this online and thought back to our confab about exposure

"There are 4096 tones in a greyscale RAW image...If you divide the histogram in to 4 sections, the section on the far right (highlights) has 2048 tones, right from centre has 1024 tones, left of centre has 512 tones and far left - in the shadows has only 256.

So, by over exposing slightly, you are increasing your tonal range and therefore the final post processed output of the image."

LOL, i remember that.The key word is "slightly". If you blow your fucked.

Got to love RAW's for the ability to manipulate for maximum tonal exposer.:thumbsup




But i definitely don't recommend that technique for HD video. If you over expose that, thats it, no fix in the world for that.
