What Is The Point Of Cleaning Up The Beaches...

... while the oil is still gushing out?

Seems like a pointless exercise in futility.

Until we stop the fucking leak, clean up just seems meaningless.

This wave brings oil to the beach - people risk their health trying to clean it up - then the next wave brings more oil to the beach.

I don't get it....

PR.... makes it look like BP is actually doing "something" this way they can say look we hired X amount of people to clean the shit up...

But u are right

I just can't believe, in today's modern world, that this leak is still fucking gushing oil!

If they can not figure out a better method to shut down leaks from offshore drilling rigs, then I am all for banning ALL offshore drilling - forever!

Yep, I'm sick to death of TALKING about the oil DISASTER in the gulf of mexico. Seriously. Show me a stopped pipe, show me no more gushing oil from this massive man-made disaster caused by some asshole who wanted to save time and money. Show me that, and then I'll jump on the bandwagon of yap yap yap about nonsense.

dyna mo 06-14-2010 01:44 PM

y'all will have to wait till august for either one of the relief wells to stop the gusher.

might as well start cleaning now, less to clean later.

IllTestYourGirls 06-14-2010 01:51 PM

Thats sort of like asking why clean your house while you are still living in it.

I've been cleaning my kitchen for the last three hours (with several hours to go still), but I don't know why as I can't stop the eating.

Tom_PM 06-14-2010 01:55 PM

Meant to say: I dont mind the cleaning up, I'd be pissed if they didnt do it. It's just the constant talk with no way to affect a damn thing is tiring. And "reporters" jamming their fists into oil and wading out into oily marsh is just dangerous and teaches nothing. Drama.

they just want to show us they are good, but people are not stupid, they need to pay the price!

You are foolish to think anything is being cleaned. They are just scraping the surface and hiding it with sand.

billywatson 06-14-2010 02:21 PM

Why wipe your ass today when you're gonna shit tomorrow?

I would think that letting the oil sit there on the beach for months would cause even greater damage.

We shower everyday. Why? To feel good, sure, but we need that regular maintenance to try and eliminate additional problems that could arise from being filthy.

I found this which has more up to date info. I find it hard to believe in over 20 years we couldn't develop an efficient oil eating microbe.

I'm not against cleaning up - I just think it is so fucking frustrating, since the oil continues to gush out, seemingly without end.

I am even more for cleaning up the poor animals, but then what? Are they sent right back into the pollution?

dyna mo 06-14-2010 04:41 PM

People still like to go to the beach and it makes BP look like they are doing a SOMETHING about the situation.
