trying to import outlook express info

I'm trying to transfer all my outlook express info from one computer to another. Anyone know the easiest way to move the accounts and message database over?

There is a import option in OE, basically just move the message folder over from your old computer to whereever then goto file > import > messages in OE and find your folder location and it should then transfer the messages across as they were previously.

Accounts I've always had to setup manually so I'm not sure about that.

Hope that made sense :glugglug

The mail accounts are easy to move.... on the old PC, go to Tools / Accounts, and then export each of them to a file, then on the new one, do a Tools / Accounts, then import them.

To move your messages, right click on your inbox to find the location of your message store. Use explorer to browse there, and copy the files in that directory to a CD or something. Then on the new computer, go to file / import / messages.

If you want to grab your address book, on the old comp, go to Tools / Address Book. Select the contacts you want, and export to a .WAB file. Then on the new one, you can do a File / Import / Address Book.

Piece of cake.

Argh I just went thru that and my .mbx files wouldn't move over right. So if you run into a jam let me know, there is a program that will take care of it.

if you use Outlook instead of OE, you can export your entire mail database to a single pst file in one click.
