dacash 01-01-2003 07:36 PM

that picture is 100% real, my dad owns a Steel erection company and i'm also in the Iron Worker Union ( i go work on steel for vacations) i use to work 5 years ago on steel but i like computer better.

Ironworker is positioned at number 6 out of the Top 10 most dangerous job in the world and back then they didn't have safety or nothing.

LiveDose 01-01-2003 07:38 PM

shit I would fall to my death so fast! These guys are the real deal right here! Better view than I have on my lunch break!

UnseenWorld 01-01-2003 07:45 PM

I think that may be a still from a newsreel movie. I think I've seen the movie that's from. You think THAT is crazy, I've seen pics of steelworkers in the old days, many of them navajos, walking around on the beams (12" wide or so) like they were sidewalks, so high above the city that the people below looked like ants. No safety lines or anything. I think today they need safety lines and/or nets.

True ...

SykkBoy 01-01-2003 07:50 PM

I'm such a clumsy fucker, I'd probably lose my shoe way up there....

Shaggy 01-01-2003 08:01 PM

You loose your fear of hights after a while. I was a brick layer working 10 stories up on scaffold and it botherd me a little at first but it goes away completely after a while. Cool pic.

the indigo 01-01-2003 08:05 PM

Most men in the last 40-50 years are total pussies... it's a fucking joke.

What's the difference between a man and a female in 2003?

the dick.

Oh wait, you a real man if you drive your manual honda civic.

Rose Crans 01-01-2003 10:13 PM

Hi I think that's from the building of the Empire State Building - the construction was documented with a ton of pics. I have a postcard book somewhere with this picture in it but here's a book that probably has it too:

Only during their breaks??? There are quite a few construction workers here that drink all day. But you should remember that beer is a basic food here in Germany :Graucho

KRL 01-02-2003 01:01 AM

Fuck that shit makes me dizzy just looking at it.

Talking about heights, had a friend in the 80's who was into sky jumping and he had all these scars on his arms and I joked with him what'd ya do forget to where your shoot. What happened his shoot got tangled up and he only got partial effectiveness out of it but managed to land right into a forest with tall trees and the branches snagged him and saved his ass, but he got branch whipped like crazy.

Funny thing is he figured he was gonna die and he said time seemed to stop on the way down and he couldn't even remember going into the trees afterwards.

Another friend of mine who did high rise construction before he got into the broadband biz said he saw a guy slip on a job and went airborne and they could see his facial expression as he looked up and gave a goodbye wave.

Hmm... I think the guy on the end has a laptop. Apple TI Book looks like. Damn apple was popular along time ago.

Paul Markham 01-02-2003 05:03 AM

I'm terrified of heights. Used to have nightmares about falling.

When Eva and I went to Vegas she wento nt eh Ride at the top of the Stratosphere. I did not, would not even go to the edge, where the floor meets the window.

Yes I'm a pussy when it comes to heights.

hahmike 01-02-2003 05:15 AM

ROFL, ha ha ha, that's how I feel right now, I HATE heights, you couldn't get me up there if you had a million bucks up there with my name on it.

Dawgy 01-02-2003 12:23 PM

now those are the kinda real men that built this country.

chodadog 01-02-2003 01:27 PM

I watched a documentary about these kind of guys a while back. Crazy stuff. They just walk along like it's no big thing, as if they were just walking along the street or something.

Pornwolf 01-02-2003 01:40 PM

That is real work. Pics like this remind me that no matter how hard I think I work it's nothing but a paid vacation compared to what these guys did!

traffictrader 01-02-2003 02:27 PM
