Doesn't look like a fuck up -- looks like they are promoting their many products.

I see maps, chat, local business, checkout and their logo.

Try deleting cache files..

google uses a single .png for all of its images. the css must have got messed up while the page was loading

they apparently fixed it because it works for me.

Google Chrome was having a problem reading its own site for a while.
