Im completely ignorant about basketball, are there more white players in the NBA now than say, in 1980? About the same? Or less?

Although I do find it interesting that every April around the time of the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier the media always puts out the statistic on how many African Americans make up MLB rosters. Normally its a shrinking # from the year before, I think its around or below 10%. Critics say the league doesnt do enough to attract black players and this % is unacceptable. MLB even has the RBI program going in response (Returning Baseball to the Inner cities).

However nothing is ever made regarding the % of white's that play in the NBA. This % is a far greater gap when compared to the % of whites/blacks that make up the country. Also nothing is ever said regarding the number of Hispanics playing in the NBA or NFL. Just interesting how the media portrays race issues.

You can research the statistics of NBA or other associations. Probably there were more white players in 1980.
