What is a good CTR?

Is 3,500 impressions/day with a 5% CTR (click through rate) on a 728x90 at the bottom of the page good? How about 1%? What is a bad CTR?

BigRod 06-05-2010 08:17 PM

Ummm YUP...

Anything over 1.5, I would consider very good!

Probably depends on the type of traffic you have and what kind of layout model you use

Miguel 06-06-2010 03:10 PM

5% ctr is very good for banner!

strobi 06-06-2010 03:19 PM

1% is still very decent!

IllTestYourGirls 06-06-2010 03:21 PM

5% for a footer yes thats good. Whats the URL?

DamianJ 06-06-2010 03:25 PM

It all depends on the creative. My missing image banner in my sig has had more clicks than any other banner I have run here.

if it's the bottom of the page than 1.5% or above is good...

Adraco 06-06-2010 05:20 PM

I accept CTR down to 0.80% or I will try to do something about it.
1% is acceptable and kind of what I calculate on and expect.
5% I would consider to be high to very high, but with a good image/banner it's definitely possible and happens sometimes.

I would agree.....:)

The reason banners suffer from low click rates is that most surfers simply ignore most of them..the term is " Banner Blindness".

Experiment with different ideas and techniques..think outside the box until you find what works best for you.

Surfers are more likely to ignore banners now in favor of juicy text links. But I'll echo everyone else and say 1% and over are good.

Just wondering if the clicks will be a good one since the surfer has no idea what is it all about. But if the goal is just to make them click....then I would say you succeeded in doing so.....I clicked it :thumbsup

The best CTR I've ever had was a banner I made with a dark gray background and the name of my site in orange letters. Nothing more. Sometimes simplicity works best.

5% is definitely above the average
however if you put a niche banner on a niche website, and a banner is well designed, you can get even more than that

seeandsee 06-07-2010 03:25 AM

I think 5% is very very good on bottom banner!
