BP Oil Spill: Obama was told in April nothing will be can be done until August to stop the leak...

As I said many times here. Obama's harsh tone with BP is just politicking and BP's silly attempts to fix the leak thus far is just a side show until the relief wells are done which takes months.

The latest "fix" catches only a fraction of the leak. You may be right... the real solution is the relief well.

August - that's a long time to wait.

CNN just ran a quick segment on how this might turn Obama into Jimmy Carter. I doubt it. Still midway through Obama's term. If he continues to perform like this during his last 18 months then maybe the analogy would be more appropos.

Obama Sheltered BP's Deepwater Horizon Rig from Regulatory Requirement

funny thing about the oil spill that no one is talking about.
BP could have been doing controlled burns of oil on the surface before it reached the shore and marsh lands. Omaba stopped BP from doing it. |

Obama has been and will continue to be in a position that is too big for him. He entered the office with practically no experience and that lack of experience shows with everything he does.
He will go down as one of the biggest failures in US presidential history. Not 100% his fault I may add, he did inherit a pile of shit. However, his reaction, or lack of understanding on how to react to the shit is what is ruining him. |

Somehow I have a feeling that Obama is going to spin this into his favor.
Realistically there isn't much more he could do than he has already done short of activating the national guard or military to help with the clean up. All the clean up in the world isn't going to help much until they plug the freaking hole and unless Obama is actually Aquaman that doesn't look like it is going to happen too soon. My thought is that once the hole is plugged and the real cleanup begins Obama will spin this to make it all about the anti-climate change pro drill baby drill republicans. He will shoulder some of the blame, but he will also claim he was lied to and misled by them and he will act out against them to make it look like he is angry with them. The guy is pretty slick. I won't shocked if a year from now he has sidestepped it all and actually somehow made himself look pretty good in this whole mess. To me, he has a much larger danger to his political life on the horizon called immigration. Once Arizona starts enforcing its law you will see other states starting to pass laws like it. He is going to be forced to act fast and get some kind of federal immigration reform done otherwise he is going to come off looking very soft on immigration. The last I read about 50% of the country supports an immigration law like the one Arizona has passed. If the law starts getting enforced and there are no problems with it and he still waits until a dozen red states have similar laws then tries to make a federal law that is not as tough, it is not going to be good for him. |
