Personals or Social Network Scripts?
 

Are there any good one's out there?

I am not concerned on cost. I am looking for one that has some nice features, and has solid code. I have tried Dolphin, among others, in the past and it's a nightmare.

I've never worked hands on with something like that, but I have heard from many people Dolphin is shit.

I've heard some buzz about Ning - http://www.ning.com/

Its Social Networking software, I haven't even actually dug into it but just on the surface I'm suspicious about how much control you have over the user data.

There's also Ska Date - http://www.skadate.com/ been seeing ads for that around lately.

ning is paid now, no longer free

the recent facebook debacle has sent many universities and other people to create an open source social network solution... to compete against facebook..

I'd wait for it..

For social networking there's also Social Engine

I installed the trial once, looked pretty good but of course I never tested it under real traffic.

There's also PHPFox, which I'm looking at for using in a dating site. It's 100% unencrypted apparently which is a huge plus in my book. I'm looking for user's experiences under high traffic sites.

I'm not sure about personals integration but since it is open source, I'm sure it can be tweaked easily. Try the open source social network script called Dolphin
