trial cancelation percentage?

what are some average percentages of users who would pay for trial (1-7day)and cancel before rebiil for full amount.

Im sure they vary greatly, but whats some realistic good and bad, that can I get a rough idea of what i'd be dealing with.

thanks.

It depends on the site design, content, traffic, processor, etc...

I'm at 26% retention right now though with $1 / 1 day trials............

Somewhere between a flock and a baker's dozen.

In my experience with 3.95 trials, 70% will cancel before the trial is over. I would guess maybe more these days.

BIGTYMER 06-03-2010 03:52 AM

If you offer a limited membership your ratio will greatly improve.

True that man, anyone on here use Zombaio? I've been trying to work with their API functions/back-end to setup just that, (with little luck :().

Because the member only wants 3 days or maybe only 30 minutes.

What some will never get is after 15 years of Adult Internet the customer is the king. Offer him what he wants, how he wants it and at a price he will pay or he will go elsewhere.Few today have content that will persuade him to pay $30 to jerk off for 30 minutes.

For that customer, the Internet provides his jerk off material free. By the way, the customer is not king. I learned that a long, long time ago.

I'm curious if the trial price affects the percentage... Is a $1 trial more likely to cancel than a $2.95 or $4.95?

Phoenix 06-03-2010 08:42 AM

normally 65-70 percent will cancel

however you can use our feeds to setup a trial members area...and change that to be that you keep 60-65% of trials to full

easy to do

The $1 trial works well on the mobile, but we saw on PC that if we went down too low it would hinder conversions because our theory was that people thought it was "too cheap."

I would always recommend doing a trial members area because you are going to get those customers who come in and download everything within their trial period.

If you do a trial members area honestly and correctly, you can see 50-60% trial to convert. The average runs about 40%. So that would answer your question - that 60% of people don't convert and cancel their membership before the trial is up.

fuzebox 06-03-2010 09:21 AM

I've tested both :winkwink: Was hoping to get testimonials from other people.

I assumed that anyone in this thread would already have a limited trial members area...

iSpyCams 06-03-2010 09:24 AM

30% conversion seems to be about right, funny thing is on closer inspection around half of the non-conversions are not actually canceling, but failing to rebill in some way.

I frakking like that! I'll give you a shout in a few days.

james_clickmemedia 06-03-2010 09:42 AM

About 70%-75% will cancel within the trial period.
A limited trail members area help improve conversions.

TeenCat 06-03-2010 09:46 AM

depends on sponsor, for example with naughty america two of three people rebills from trial to full, with for example amakings its like one rebills in twenty ... and of course depends on traffic, this is my stats but you cant have it in reverse way :winkwink: wish you best with your sites everyone! :thumbsup

Right, they cancel the upsell to full membership because they don't want 30 days. If you don't offer it then your content has to be very special and still those who want a quick jerk off will still not sign up. They know Tubes exist and they know how the Adult Net works.

You think?

VGeorgie 06-03-2010 12:08 PM

It doesn't matter what percentage cancels. What matters is that your revenue is higher when providing the trial, than if not.

I know your question was about the percentage of trial cancellations, but even a very high percentage could still net you better business if that results in higher revenue. That makes the actual comparison of numbers experienced by other sites of little value, because there are too many variations that affect revenue.

It's extraordinarily difficult to find the optimum buy level, but you can start with random samples of surfers (same traffic, same time periods) offered a trial, and those not offered a trial. At the end of your sampling period look at the results. Assuming the same total number of tour hits for each group, which one made you more money? What happens if you increase the trial price and decrease the amount of access.

AS A CUSTOMER I personally feel that sites with a trial offer are desperate, or are more likely to try to cheat me. Most porn surfers have at one time or another gotten screwed by trials that didn't cancel when they said they would.

So, I try to give my customers something else. Offering a cheap product isn't the only way to respond to customer buying behavior. It's the simplistic solution, but it's not usually the best.
