Verisign raising prices ... again

Had not read it yet here ...

On July 1, 2010, VeriSign (the registry for .COM and .NET names) will increase prices for both .COM and .NET domain names - .COM will go up nearly 7%, and .NET, 10%. The increase will be passed to registrars like Go Daddy and then, unfortunately, to consumers. As of July 1, we will be forced to raise registration and renewal prices for these two popular top-level domains. If you wish to avoid this price increase, you can renew your domain names by June 30. You have the option of renewing for multiple years to lock in longer-term savings.

PornMD 06-02-2010 02:27 PM

Yyyup. Thank you ICANN for approving it...as if Verisign's costs for running the registries are actually going up. Puhleeze.

Hadn't seen the "8" posts mentioning this, also not when searching "verisign" nor "ICANN"

I'm sure there will be more peeps :2 cents:

ShellyCrash 06-02-2010 04:36 PM

Didn't they get bought out by symantec or similar in the last month?

Domain Diva 06-02-2010 04:39 PM

Just imagine how much extra revenue that increase will bring in ....must be cool to be able to simply say...lets increase our profits by $xx millions this year by simply hiking up the price.........total effort = 0 :(

The thing is what is your price now ? with GoDaddy its 6.89 + (18cents ICANN Fee) = $.7.17 ..so with a 7 percent increase it will increase to around $.7.68 ?

Domain Diva 06-02-2010 07:30 PM

*Money Saving tip *

If you want the lowest price at all times that Godaddy has to offer without looking for coupons/codes or searching..... simply bookmark www.DomainSalesTalk.com because the banners on the right are hosted by Godaddy and change/update automatically with the lowest price they have to offer....:thumbsup

Note : the discounted price doesnt show up until checkout !.

Hope that saves a few peeps some $$$$ :pimp

GoDaddy front page says New .COMs $10.69* per year

our current prices are
.com is 7.99 + .18
.net 6.49 + .18

Not sure, but Godaddy price may be a initial sale price that goes up next year, or some other catch.. or might need to buy a product of some sort.. We have no catch.

Transfers, Renewals and New Registrations

We also might have a new sale I am not aware aboutyet , i have not seen the new sales of the month yet, been busy on another project.

They dont advertise thier lowest price on the site ...thats why I gave the tip :winkwink: ..those banners update instantly within seconds of them setting the latest lowest deal....:thumbsup

No catch...Nothing extra to purchase etc....

Most of the main domain registrars dont put thier lowest price on site ...you have to ask or look for coupons etc......standard domain trade practice.

Not trying to digg at you ..just pointing out what a lot of the regular domain buyers here know already.......

LOL @ "don't go to GoDaddy, go to a GoDaddy reseller!"

Your site is a WildWestDomains reseller program, which is GoDaddy if you weren't aware. I know because I have one too at Supur.com. GoDaddy + coupons will almost always be cheaper than resellers.

I didnt want to point that out to save embarrassing the guy...but now youve pointed it out .......yes it is in fact true a GoDaddy/WildWest domain reseller will never beat Godaddy at its discount pricing promotions....and yes also to the fact WildWest is part of Godaddy.

They also have some companies like China Domains etc within the group that purchases expired/dropping domains...GoDaddy are into everything ......

Prices are up 7% for .com and 10% for .net. You can renew and lock in price before June 30. That's interesting.

Domain Diva 06-02-2010 08:47 PM

As I said...I didnt mention that you are a reseller or anything other than discuss whats the lowest price available in the market ...I then replied to PornMD that I didnt want to discuss anything or comment on anything other than prices.....

Sorry if you took it any other way......it wasnt meant to cause you any embarassment or anything else......

Back the pricing issue...Godaddy always have a promo price so you may as well say its a standard price.....and over time and next yr you will find another promo price easy to renew the domain.......anyway ,no good discussing the price subject any more I think its all covered.

Ps And yes I am still the reigning King Banana .....

No offense but if I whois your domain I find its creation date of 2003. Also no offense, if WWD raises min retail rates to above your price, you'll have to eat your words of staying with the prices you gave. I don't even keep up with mine so I'm not sure if they've indicated already what their new min retail rates will be or not, but I'm pretty sure they'll be raising those rates. It makes no sense for them not to make money for themselves from their resellers.

Look, if you provide service above and beyond the WWD-provided customer service, that's great and you may very well be worth the money. However, you'll find that most people around here hate GoDaddy due to things they do that they would just as easily do through your WWD reseller (such as take down a domain after an unfounded complaint received...don't worry, they'll do it for you on your reseller).

Plus you shamelessly spammed the thread that had nothing to do with people asking where to register names, so yea...expect to take flack.

Yeah, well maybe i know something you dont... WWD is lowering prices.. so ugh.. yeah... maybe someone knows more than you for a change, go figure that eh..

GoDaddy is a WWD reseller, (no shit its the same company) notice, our software is exactly the same!
They only allow promotions that let them go under anyone elses prices, and that's because bottom line the average consumer is not going to sit there everyday monitoring his domain profile and is going to be rebiilled at $11. So you fucktard wanna be domain resellers who think you know a little bit of the the tricks of the trade are nothing short of
a dollar special..

Put 150 domains in your account each with a different billing date and use godaddy... Go for it..

Then come give me a call, when you wake up

I NEVER SAID YOU WERE! I was giving you shit because you interrupted a discussion thread by spamming your registrar. I also found it amusing that you're talking shit about the company that's paying your commission checks.

Good to know then. I wouldn't have assumed they'd be lowering min retail rates, but apparently I'm wrong, and I'll admit that. Will look forward to those rates then. I said in plain English that I haven't been following what they're doing so gosh, you got me there.

Jesus dude. Just stop spamming in threads where people aren't asking for this shit. You can go be the pimpest reseller ever in your sig, Buy/Sell, and threads asking for registrars to reg domains at. Here, I'll point you to a couple recent examples of those threads so you can go post in them now:

fucking-around-and-business-discussion/971026-domain-reg-spam-please.html
fucking-around-and-business-discussion/967507-domain-registrar.html

There's 3 ways to spam shit around here and you didn't do it in any of the 3 ways.
