Pretty big news, but it even says here:

Most hacks come from people running pirated copies of Windows or those that never get the updates... |
This really makes no sense, especially coming from a company that claims to have the best and brightest employees (who use IE6 - wtf?). They claim moving to Macs will be more secure because they have a smaller percentage of attackers? LOL.
The target is Google, not Windows. They are only encouraging hackers to target Macs. If you love your Mac, you should be very worried about this announcement. |
|
Also how the fuck are they going to get rid of windows and run the biggest website online WTF?? This article must be from the onion lol, think about it, how can you not test with windows and IE and multiple employees a product that needs to goto 100% of the market 80+% of which is windows or IE ??
|
I wonder why people forget that prob 80% of macs are used in video and graphic studios and recording studios and are offline and not used for surfing, of course they dont get attacked.

It's all about competition and pimping that Press Release. The real issue is: will MSFT go the way of Netscape or can it get its shit together and stave off Apple and google in the netbook/phone OS space?
|
Whatever is the most widespread used OS will always have the most security vulnerabilities. I love how people say such and such OS is more secure, it's not, hackers just haven't created nearly as many exploits for those operating systems. :2 cents:

Linux and probably Macs are quite a bit more secure than Windows unless you take some unusual measures to secure them. Even using the normal malware scanners is not a lot of security since they do not detect many things and are not able to keep up with the new malware. Without special measures such as using a disk image or virtualization Windows is not realistically able to be secured in 2010 when under normal use. |

Google would get rid of most of their problems if they banned IE6 instead of banning Windows. If I workled for Google I'd tell them to take their macs and shove them up their asses.
This is like having your house broken into because the lock on the door was busted and Google's solution is to buy a new house. |
