Okay, so I bought a Slap Chop

yesterday...

this thing does not peel the skin off garlic like Vince promised. It just makes smaller pieces that then need the skin peeled off all of them. :Oh crap

Haven't tried his nuts yet.

Choker 05-31-2010 09:33 AM

I bet you bought the blueberry trees too?

Zuzana Designs 05-31-2010 09:35 AM

It works awesome for just doing onions. I was not going to fall into the trap of getting one and as i was checking out last week it was staring at me so I bought it. Sucks for garlic but rocks for doing onions fast.

We're gonna try onions right now :thumbsup

We're catering a huge party for some people next month, so we're doing practice runs of some of the menu items today.

The slap chop is great for breaking down dry dog food if your dog is smaller and has food allergies that requires her to eat food for bigger dogs.

Other than that, I haven't used much.

Now you just need the shake weight.

lol, the shake weight seems too overtly masturbatory to me....

Since I'm like a master chef surgeon with the carving knife

there'll be no slap chop buying for me. :D

Love the commercial though.

cherrylula 05-31-2010 11:38 AM

just smash the garlic cloves with the side of a knife, works for me. don't know what a slap chop is though lol

Perfect example of how to take a stupid product that nobody wants or needs and sell it to everyone. The commercials make you think your life is not complete unless you have 100 thousand blueberry trees in your backyard.

Did anyone try cashew nuts from a Philippines store? They are very good tasting.

That's exactly why we got it. We usually just smash them with a chef's knife. But there's going to be a ton of food. :)

Slap chop FTW. That part where Vince talks about his nuts MADE that ad. Classic!

kada 05-31-2010 08:50 PM

TrainWreckContent 05-31-2010 08:54 PM

more then half the shit you see in those infomercials dont work like they claim they do

heymatty 05-31-2010 09:03 PM

For a big quantity I be very tempted to buy peeled fresh garlic cloves. I hate short cuts in cooking but that will save a lot of time.

ShellyCrash 05-31-2010 09:26 PM

Did it make your life exciting again?

Good choice picking up a mandolin, I use mine all the time. Just used it today to make perfect tomato slices for memorial day bbq. My knife skills suck, I've cut into fingers a few times.

Not sure if the Slap Chop boosted excitement much.... but some of the more exciting things we've picked up this year so far are a new dark walnut Boos board, new set of Calphalon knives, and a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Made red velvet cake the other day. :)

kacy 05-31-2010 09:55 PM

Ok so this making be laugh because I too broke down this weekend and bought the Slap Chop lol. It did work good on celery, radishes and pickles for potato salad :)

Oh and jalapeno for my guacamole :)

You're so cool that I hate to say this.....but....

If you bought something to "peel" an onion then you are just not thinking.

Just cut the ends of the onion off then slice the skin down the side.

End.

Well, it's not really for peeling, but for chopping. Slap Chop only costs like, $9 bucks I think. My Chef's knife was $300.

Yeah, I just took a closer look, so I'm out of line.

It's good for chopping. :thumbsup
