10,000 tons per day for 8 years? This is a major disaster.

1 Barrel (159 liters) of crude oil is worth $74.75 right now.

This means that the oil is being lost at a worth of $4,701,258 per day.

Instead of thinking about new pipeline projects, stopping the spill should be the main issue.

This hasn't been done before.that's why their attempts aren't working,it's deep water, not like divers can jump in with tools to fix it

STFU.... thanks.

Rochard 05-30-2010 10:45 PM

This is not an oil spill. It's an oil leak. This is not a boat with oil leaking out, it's a tap directly into a huge pool of oil that is leaking - not spilling.

No worries. BP made $4bil last quarter. They can afford $4mil a day.

I don't believe for a minute that we can not plug up a hole. With the technology we have and the intense military power we have, there is no reason why we can not plug up a dam hole.

My theory: This was planned from the start. This is the next "oil crises." Obama is already setting up the restrictions and new guidlines for oil drilling and in the process will be shutting down 95% of all off shore oil drilling until everything is in check. In the mean time, oil and gas prices will sky rocket like we've never seen before. Massive profits will be made by Big Brother and the powers that be. So they kill a few birds and ruin some coast lines in the process, who the fuck cares? It's all about making a buck.

Can't plug a hole? Give me a fucking break. We are all so stupid we actually believe them. We can build pyramids, rocket ships to the moon, do brain surgery, harness the atom...but oh no... there's a hole in the ground bleeding oil... oh my!!! what will we do??? We can't stop it....!! We don't know how?? It's too powerful.... ! My ass. Get ready for a massive hike in gas prices like you haven't seen in years.

oh, and "let's put a live camera on it so the public can see the leak, and pump the fear into them, to justify the closing of all off shore drilling...and watch, USA will be behind it. Keep the cameras rolling and keep the fear going strong....

Save this thread, and in 6 months.... when gas is $ 9.67 a gallon, you'll know why.

oh, and a note: I love Obama, I think he is great. This next "oil crisis" is great, because he comes out looking like a hero, shutting down the drilling plants at the same time getting what all the powers that be want. A massive profit in oil. Unlike Bush, Obama will look like he is fighting on "our side" while we are paying $ 9.67 a gallon at the pump. Total fucking genious at work. Much smarter than Bush.

Scott McD 05-31-2010 06:49 AM

Couldn't believe when i read that the latest attempt to fill it with mud and then concrete had failed.

Just pisses me off everytime i hear about it. Why the fuck did they never plan ahead years ago, incase disaster struck ?? Did they never think anything would go wrong?? Oh that's right, who gives a fuck when you are making big money from it. Disgusting!!

scarlettcontent 05-31-2010 07:34 AM

this is horrific

dyna mo 05-31-2010 07:39 AM

what's the point of making this ridiculous claim? it's worthless. so fucking what if it *could* leak for 8 years.

I couldn't believe that they even suggested and tried doing that. It was a totally ridiculous plan to fill up the leak with garbage. If it was that easy, they could have just plugged it.

While I don't think it was planned, I do believe they will use this to do exactly what you say.

Expect $10+ per gallon in the near future.

Hugely exaggerated claims get attention.

BP oil spill might run out of oil next week and by July everybody will have forgotten about it doesn't sound so exciting and nobody would read it.

Amputate Your Head 05-31-2010 09:11 AM

It's not a ridiculous claim, it's actually old news. They were talking about this on CNN last week, saying if left alone this well could pump out oil for 7 years. (i never heard anyone say 8 years).

Marcus Aurelius 05-31-2010 09:15 AM

lets get MetaMan to plug the hole with his dick

it is ridiculous in regards to the fact that it's not being left alone, therefore, ridiculous & moot.

well, it does give us some perspective on how much oil we're dealing with, but yes... other than that it's pretty moot.

Naechy 05-31-2010 10:09 AM

wow, 8 years, i can`t believe it

it's a shitload of oil, no doubt. but all this end of the sea/world shit gets on my nerves, especially when it's taken to its extreme worst-case scenario 8 years from now.

let's stay focuses on today.
