My brothers and I surprised the hell out of my mom today

She was out of town for two weeks on business trip to Washington DC.

We sheet rocked and painted her living room, fixed a bunch of power outlets and power issues (her house is old) laid down new flooring throughout most of the house, laid ceramic tile in her kitchen, painted everything, new crown moulding throughout etc... needlesstosay when she walked in she almost fainted LOL My mom is the type wont let you do anything to her house, she doesnt like change at all. She was like "where is my floor???" I said, "under the tiles mom" LOL But she was tearing up telling us how much she liked it when i just left to come home.

Nothing feels better than doing something good for your mom!

good luck

Nice... I wish I could do that for my mother. She wants to knock down a few walls and build a bigger master bdroom, put in patio sliders, expand the kitchen... but I'm just too far away to do anything.

Tom_PM 05-28-2010 11:40 AM

Really nice man, I wish I could do that.

CBunny 05-28-2010 11:41 AM

How nice of you! Doing good things for others makes you feel good, huh! That sounds like a really special present for your mom...good job.

yeah distance sucks. I lived away from her for a decade while in California, and moved back to spend time with her and my brothers so this is what I am up to at this time.

Both my brothers and I live very close to her, we all own houses close to her ( my brother bought his house just a few doors down) and I live a few blocks away so its been very nice being this close to them, my wife is able to walk the baby over in a stroller and I ride my bike to her house all the time like when I was a kid LOL

i got a couple crappy cellphone pics I think, but for the most part we didnt even have the fans h8ung etc by the time she got home the place , although majority of work complete, was still look like a group of contractors just did the job and left the tools everywhere LOL we did the work but it wasnt like a pristine job site afterwards,... she came home earlier than expected and basically walked in on us hanging ceiling fans (new ones) - i was literally moving the table saws and stuff minutes before she came home, still had saw dust all over LOL
:1orglaugh

cherrylula 05-28-2010 11:47 AM

it was really cool. :)

Fletch XXX 05-28-2010 11:50 AM

her fridge had a slow leak in the back we were unaware of and had caused wood damage.... lots of work needed to be done...so now she gets to go buy new fridge and all kinds of stuff to decorate it to her liking, but yeah there was still saw dust all over when i left LOL

Phoenix 05-28-2010 11:51 AM

Shit, I thought you called La Migra on her.

Nikki_Licks 05-28-2010 03:06 PM

Nice work! I am sure she is overly pleased :winkwink:

selena 05-28-2010 04:39 PM

That was awesome of you guys to do for her. :)

SpongeBub 05-28-2010 05:01 PM

That's really cool. I'd give anything in the world if I could just see my mom and tell her how much I love her. She died whan I was 21, way too young to realize how important she was to me. So I never got to tell her all the things that I would love to tell her now. How my life was never the same after she was gone, how I stopped being a kid the day she died and life was 100% harder. If your mom is alive, don't fail to tell her the things you will someday wish you could. Unless she was a bad mom, in that case, never mind.

candyflip 05-28-2010 05:06 PM

My parents live in a big brand new house on the lake. They're always over at my place doing all that shit. :1orglaugh

hah! My mom had three boys, Im the oldest. And growing up she always said she wished she could have had a girl. Now with three guys to do anything she needs for her she has told us so many times she is glad she had all boys because shes got all three of us at her beck and call at any time.

The irony is, all three of her boys have reproduced and made girls, so now she gets to kick back and raise three grand daughters and she keeps telling us how that is probably better than having to raise a girl herself - she says all the time "wow im glad i had boys these girls are tough to manage" LOL (i have one, youngest brother has one girl, and the middle brother has 3 girls) so 5 in all LOL

Spunky 05-28-2010 07:35 PM

That's a great gesture,I wish I was that handy

Been rehabbing moms house for a few months now. She's loving it but now that it's nearing completion she's getting new ideas of additional things such as a deck, adding space..

Spankys Teens 05-29-2010 12:41 AM

martinsc 05-29-2010 01:06 AM
