My brothers and I surprised the hell out of my mom today
She was out of town for two weeks on business trip to Washington DC.
We sheet rocked and painted her living room, fixed a bunch of power outlets and power issues (her house is old) laid down new flooring throughout most of the house, laid ceramic tile in her kitchen, painted everything, new crown moulding throughout etc... needlesstosay when she walked in she almost fainted LOL My mom is the type wont let you do anything to her house, she doesnt like change at all. She was like "where is my floor???" I said, "under the tiles mom" LOL But she was tearing up telling us how much she liked it when i just left to come home. Nothing feels better than doing something good for your mom! |
good luck

Nice... I wish I could do that for my mother. She wants to knock down a few walls and build a bigger master bdroom, put in patio sliders, expand the kitchen... but I'm just too far away to do anything.
|
Really nice man, I wish I could do that.
|
How nice of you! Doing good things for others makes you feel good, huh! That sounds like a really special present for your mom...good job.

Both my brothers and I live very close to her, we all own houses close to her ( my brother bought his house just a few doors down) and I live a few blocks away so its been very nice being this close to them, my wife is able to walk the baby over in a stroller and I ride my bike to her house all the time like when I was a kid LOL |
nice work! got any pics of it
|
Yup...words are in vain for things like this....anyways, it is awesome what you did, congrats!

her fridge had a slow leak in the back we were unaware of and had caused wood damage.... lots of work needed to be done...so now she gets to go buy new fridge and all kinds of stuff to decorate it to her liking, but yeah there was still saw dust all over when i left LOL

that is hella cool

Nice work! I am sure she is overly pleased :winkwink:

That was awesome of you guys to do for her. :)

That's really cool. I'd give anything in the world if I could just see my mom and tell her how much I love her. She died whan I was 21, way too young to realize how important she was to me. So I never got to tell her all the things that I would love to tell her now. How my life was never the same after she was gone, how I stopped being a kid the day she died and life was 100% harder. If your mom is alive, don't fail to tell her the things you will someday wish you could. Unless she was a bad mom, in that case, never mind.

My parents live in a big brand new house on the lake. They're always over at my place doing all that shit. :1orglaugh

Great story Fletch - mom is lucky to have a son like you!!!
|
Stories like that make me almost wish I had had a couple more kids.
|
Seems like you are a very good son :) You've done a great job really.

The irony is, all three of her boys have reproduced and made girls, so now she gets to kick back and raise three grand daughters and she keeps telling us how that is probably better than having to raise a girl herself - she says all the time "wow im glad i had boys these girls are tough to manage" LOL (i have one, youngest brother has one girl, and the middle brother has 3 girls) so 5 in all LOL |
That's a great gesture,I wish I was that handy
|
Been rehabbing moms house for a few months now. She's loving it but now that it's nearing completion she's getting new ideas of additional things such as a deck, adding space..
|
great job....
|
nothing beats making your mom happy :thumbsup
