I bought a Flip - sent it back within 2 days. Great little camera but doesn't have internal stability. Even when I tried holding the camera steady, it was very jittery.

Make sure whatever you buy has internal stability if you want nice smooth footage. The smaller the camera - the less it weighs, the harder it is to keep it steady & smooth :thumbsup

What do you suggest?

Kodak makes a nice little HD model. My mom has one. It's easy to use and takes some nice video.

I'm picking up a new phone next week that shoots 720p video. I'm going to be dumping my Sony tape-based hd cam.

I replaced it with a Kodak Zi8 which I'm pretty happy with. I have a half/dozen different video cameras - some expensive...some not so expensive. This is a cool lil' camera to have around. For the money, I think it does an exceptional job.

Otherwise, I'd suggest dropping by an electronics store and seeing what's available within your price range :thumbsup

Yep...the Zi8 is the one my mom's got now. I know it's got image stabilization, because the first one she had didn't.

$150 isnt bad at all for the kodak zi8. will that shoot a lot higher quality videos than the iphone? i dont know what made it not work, but if you notice theres video playing on the tv's in my video but its just all the same color unless i hold the camera in front of it and hold it steady for 5 seconds.

Yes of course....the Kodak shoots HD - the iPhone doesn't. Plus the Kodak shoots beautiful pictures too :thumbsup
