This happened...

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/8238/oilboom.gif

...and while the oil volcano was erupting they cut the camera and then switched to another camera showing exactly fuck all and with no time/date overlay.

dav3 05-25-2010 06:16 PM

I hope they fucking stopped the oil flow!

But they probably didn't.

Amputate Your Head 05-25-2010 06:17 PM

The Gulf of Mexico is fucked. Greed has killed it. This will affect the entire globe before it's over.

ProG 05-25-2010 06:17 PM

BIGTYMER 05-25-2010 06:17 PM

They are working on doing something now. Take a look at the live feed... http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_inte...ov_stream.html

fatfoo 05-25-2010 06:41 PM

It is amazing that a human mistake such as an oil spill can have such mass consequences. Do you think that World War II and nuclear weapons are a human mistake, also?

Watching the live feed now...

Does everyone else feel hopeless and helpless when they watch or is it just me?

Caligari 05-25-2010 07:21 PM

repost but its worth it-
filmmaker of the doc called Crude is live now talking about the Ecuador Amazon disaster caused by Chevron
http://www.live365.com/stations/kxlu1?site=kxlu1

yes, an area the size of rhode island in the eccuadorian amazon was destroyed by Chevron because of their drilling practices.
all indigineous tribes in the region have huge cancer rates because chevron has simply been dumping their toxic waste directly in the waterways for years.

Robbie 05-25-2010 07:28 PM

Here's what it says under the live feed:

"Throughout the extended top kill procedure ? which may take up to two days to complete - very significant changes in the appearance of the flows at the seabed may be expected. These will not provide a reliable indicator of the overall progress, or success or failure, of the top kill operation as a whole. BP will report on the progress of the operation as appropriate and on its outcome when complete."

I'm guessing that is what is causing that?

dav3 05-25-2010 07:32 PM

go robot arm thing, go!

GAMEFINEST 05-25-2010 07:32 PM

Overload 05-25-2010 07:45 PM

on a sidenote ... EVERY oil platform leaks ... the ones in the north sea are estimated to pour about 10.000 tons of oil into the sea every year ... ok, sounds like nothing compared to the gulf blowout, but stil, it IS a fucking lot ... and who pays for it? the oil companies? i seriously doubt it :disgust

TheSenator 05-25-2010 07:50 PM

The teabaggers are in a conundrum over this situation.

over time oil evaporates

WiredGuy 05-25-2010 08:38 PM

The live feed from BP is pretty neat right now. Robotic arms installing something, its funny seeing that arm trying to insert a screw and fasten it.
WG

leedsfan 05-25-2010 09:05 PM

If they criticize BP then their whole argument falls apart. That is why no teabagger dare say anything especially if they hang out with other teabaggers.

seeandsee 05-26-2010 02:36 AM

Looks like Russian idea with nuke was proper

onlinecasino 05-26-2010 03:31 AM

um, did you know if they installed a $500,000 device this could all been avoided, i saw this on a news video on youtube, they just wanted to save 500 k on the drilling platform

shame on you!

Emil 05-26-2010 03:41 AM

Anyone know how wide that hole is?

ottopottomouse 05-26-2010 04:30 AM

There was a bill submitted to make the device a requirement by law..

The Bush & Chaney show nixed it..

scarlettcontent 05-26-2010 04:47 AM

they probably did it on purpose so they can raise the prices :(

Yes, very helpless and sad for all the loss of life in the gulf and destruction of the coast.

What is their argument? Teabaggers are pro oil spills?

It might have prevented it. It's not known for sure though it certainly would not have hurt. As I understand it the government gave them, and hundreds or even thousands of other rigs, a waiver so they did not have to do many important safety precautions.

Please use your brain here. Why on earth would BP want this to happen? They could be sued into bankruptcy, their "brand" is now totally destroyed and their stock has crashed. If this problem is not fixed soon there may not even be a BP in the future.
