I hate Dreamweaver CS5...

I don't know why, but I hate it. Goin' back to CS4.

what things are you hating about it?

LoveSandra 05-23-2010 11:14 AM

why don`t you use frontpage?

woj 05-23-2010 11:16 AM

I didn't know they were still making frontpage. Honestly thought that shit died out 10 years ago.

Amputate Your Head 05-23-2010 11:29 AM

i'd really like to hear why people don't like CS5... not just "it sucks".
Isn't CS5 native Cocoa 64-bit now? Why would anyone go backwards in version?

pamon 05-23-2010 11:38 AM

i say create the pages in geocities and see what happens. lol

brentbacardi 05-23-2010 12:18 PM

i hand code my shit in notepad.... probably why it looks so shitty! :Oh crap Or I use a CMS.

Cyber Fucker 05-23-2010 12:27 PM

So you guys have all the CSS codes memorized? Nice.

Me, I don't have all that shit memorized. So when I don't know how to do something it's fast and efficient to have it in Microsoft Expression and be able to see all the CSS code possibilities.

Or do y'all just keep a book of CSS right beside you and stop to look up everything as you go?

And what about the page declaration and all that? Do you have to sit there and type that out everytime you make a new page? You know a good wysiwyg these days like expression or dream weaver has templates where you can have all that already there and save a shitload of time.

I'm just thinking efficiency and time saved. Especially with CSS. If this was 5 years ago and all tables then I would say yeah...notepad is just as easy as anything else.

I just can't figure out how to edit my pages on the server without this shit making local copies. Easy task in CS4 and below. I like to just go in, edit shit, save, and get the fuck out. Fuck all the "put" and local copy shit.

Jdoughs 05-23-2010 02:18 PM

Doing shit in Notepad is for dinosaurs.

It doesn't make you look smart, or cool, makes you look like a fool. There is way to many great systems for doing code, css, whatever, why not use one or all of them.

Those guys who do amazing things with css, or with php and coding, don't restrict themselves to notepad, I mean why would they.

Be careful man. I used to do all my editing on my server. That was back in 1998. And when I fucked up and ruined the entire website it was NOT pretty since I didn't have a backup locally to pull from.

You not only should download and then edit...but make sure you pull down that fresh copy everytime and if possible keep the page in a couple of different places so you have the "good" original no matter what happens.

I feel you, but I take care of backups in others ways. My host makes daily backups for me that they keep, and I save weekly backups myself on a HD at my house. I don't do major coding or anything, I just do minor html stuff.

Jdoughs 05-23-2010 02:33 PM

I'm guilty of the server edits as well, made a couple big fuck ups that lead me to doing the download/edit locally then upload (with backup file saved locally).

Don't ever count on the host backup. It takes two seconds to download a file, edit it, and then reupload it. Better safe than sorry.

Lots of people claim to do everything in notepad but 99.9999% of them are full of shit. In fact, I bet most of them are still using front page express.

It's stupid to create shit from scratch in Notepad, but for doing quick edits I still love Notepad. Then again I use Notepad a lot otherwise too. I generally have anywhere from 5-10 Notepads open at one time...only to be outdone by the 10-15 Excel files I generally have open at one time. I admit I'm a dinosaur, hehe.

I make my own designs in http://artisteer.xu.am/

It's so fucking simple and you can make designs for the most popular CMS, like Drupal, DotNetNuke, and Blogger. And regular HTML-sites.

You dont have to write one bit of code and it's much quicker to work with than dreamweaver...
