To women what a man looks like is unimportant

I had a small bet with one of my lady friends that looks were far less important to a woman than the amount of money a man made. We both made a profile for a fake guy on the biggest mainstream dating site and used the same profile pictures. I wrote one description and she wrote the other of what her "ideal man" would be like.

The profile I wrote was for a rich guy, that loved to travel, spend money and loved to have fun. I even said in the profile that he was not looking to settle down and just wanted to date a lot of very good looking women.

The profile she wrote was for a guy that wanted to settle down, was looking for a committed, serious relationship leading to marriage. He had most of the same hobbies and likes and dislikes.

Well after 2 weeks of testing - the profile I made had 96 emails and her profile had 1!

If you want the woman show the money or at least lie about having it to get in the panties! :thumbsup

It also seems to prove once again that what women "say" they want, is not always "what" they want. :winkwink:

No shit the women gonna pick the rich guy if everything else is the same (i'm talking looks since that's what your experiment was about).

You should have used an IT dork looking guy for the "rich" profile and a hot stud for a poor bastard.

To put in perspective:

No, sounds like you dont comprehend what the fuck you are testing.

If you're testing the looks, then you have to use different photos, idiot.

Mutt 05-20-2010 12:03 PM

u did fail - you didn't prove that money matters more than looks to women. you proved that if two guys are similar in attractiveness that women will go for the one who's got more money over one who shares common interests and is ready to settle down.

your test should have been one average looking guy who is rich and travels a lot versus a handsome guy who wants to settle down and shares common interests.

If looks are unimportant you test the same photo with a different description which makes the actual person's bio the deciding factor thus looks are unimportant.

We didn't fail. We proved the same guy with money gets more interest thus what he looked like did not matter.

MetaMan 05-20-2010 12:07 PM

your test = FAILBOT

CaptainHowdy 05-20-2010 12:09 PM

That only proves that dating site it's a shark tank...

Suppose there are 2 similarly fugly women. One id fugly and dirt poor. The other is fugly and loaded with cash. Which one you gonna pick?

There, acording to your fail logic i just proved that men don't care about looks either.

Fucking retard.

I don't think you understand. Not every woman wants to settle down, so not only did you give the rich guy the "boost" of having money and a job, you gave the other guy what could be seen as a turn-off - broadcasting his desperation to settle down and have a family on the internet isn't necessarily attractive to everyone, whereas most people can't consider having money (in and of itself) a negative.

Then you say that everything else was identical (interests, photo).

Your "test" was stacked towards the money guy winning, because you didn't give the other guy a matching boost, you gave him a questionable trait instead, one that can be seen negatively.

Maybe the women wanted to travel, spend money and have fun and had zero interest in getting married. Not everyone wants that settle down routine, and if they don't, of course they would want the guy who had money and similar interests.

you are saying "IF looks are unimportant" - that's just a claim, to test this claim you actually need 4 profiles for 2 guys, one ugly and one young and handsome, both having two profiles each - rich and poor, then you'd get more accurate results, even more accurate if tested against same pool of females. at the end I think there would be many girls hitting for rich guy as well many ladies going for young and handsome, celebrity type of guys will win any day and night, imho

That would be a better test sure but I won the bet and got the money anyways. :)

Slappin Fish 05-20-2010 12:24 PM

Thread should be, looks being equal women want to have fun and spend money over settling down.

mike134 05-20-2010 12:26 PM

you are comparing "loved to travel, spend money and loved to have fun" versus "settle down, was looking for a committed, serious relationship leading to marriage"

profile A describes: describes a guy as being needy, outcome dependent, without having any fun vibe at all.
profile B describes: a guy who is outgoing, fun, possibly spontaneous and loves to to live life.

So, no you're test wasn't accurate in finding if money is a true factor or not.

Also money isn't a factor in most cases. I will give you an example

Say you see two lamps in front of you, the one on the left is sleek and tall, has an elegant designed base and lets off a lot of light, the lamp on the right isnt as tall, maybe not as symmetrical in size/proportion, and doesn't let off as much light as the other. Now which one would you choose? but before you answer, I'm going to tell you, you spent 20 hours making the lamp on the right with your bare hands.

Now.. its not so much about looks anymore, is it? Now its about the investment you put in.

BestXXXPorn 05-20-2010 12:26 PM

I probably work for the site you did this on, LOL

because they're rich and handsome. which only would prove that ladies like anybody else going after best package/deal. where looks and money just as important as good outgoing personality

Its as they say, desperation is a stinky cologne! I have a guy friend who's lady of 12+ yrs out of the blue up left him for another dude. You would think he might want to loosen up and maybe play the field- that's what I've been trying to steer him towards- but instead he's become despirate, clingy, etc. His dates have gone really bad, he asks them deep personal questions like about kids and shit on the first date, every girl he's gone out with has ended "Swingers" style, too many phone calls, too many text messages, too much too soon.

That type of talk only works on eharmony, who's success I personally believe is more fueled by fear of being alone than expert "matching". :2 cents:
