Anyone with experience of OVH (Paris DC) bandwidth?
Hi,
I'm looking into 1 of the following possibilities with OVH in their Paris DC: 1. full cab colocation shipping over 14 servers from the US 2. Consolidating stuff with new technology into their dedication solutions using 2 IP load balanced web servers, 1 database server, and 1 mega storage server My only worry is I've never heard of anyone using their DC, so I don't know if their premium bandwidth is reliable or not. Additionally, if there are any euro-ISPs browsing this thread, can you quote me with a similar setup for either full cab colocation, or a new setup as in 1 and 2 above... all 14 servers are using about 15mbs at the moment, so OVH's 200mbs premium bandwidth covers that nicely... thx |

with my own site in a dedicated server:

hey pornmasta -
do you mind putting up a 10MB file or something on your sites I can use just to see the speed I can get... I'm located in France so I would like to know the *real* speed of a direct download... that image you gave could be simply apache/site loading speeds, which I hope to eliminate with a load-balanced server setup situation. I would really appreciate it (email in my sig). Also, it's the bandwidth quality I'm interested in mainly... do you have any outages not caused by your server? If so, how often and how long? At the moment, the current setup is 14 servers, but content is via a CDN, so any local DC outages unaffect a multi-DC load-balanced setup. If I migrate to OVH, everything will be under one roof and in the same DC, so this single point of failure situation worries me... thanks |
