Godaddy can lick my pink sock!!!
I have a site with a modest member number, and I send out a newsletter every 6 months or so. About a year ago I send out a newsletter and all is good...until I check out my site. It is now going to a Godaddy adsense page (which they make money). So I call Godaddy to find out what's going on since I've owned the domain for 6 years and have it paid for another 10.
The arrogant prick on the other end belittles me and tells me that I've been flagged for spam and in order to keep my account active, I had to pay a $300 "administrative fee". I paid the fee and even went as far as sending them my server logs to verify that the people I sent the newsletter to indeed signed up to receive the newsletters. They thanked me for the extra work and ensured me that I was now white listed with Godaddy and my domain would forever be in good standing. Here, almost a year after the extortion of Godaddy, I decide to send out another newsletter. Yep...same thing. Now my site goes to another Godaddy adsense page and after talking to every level of fucked up management of that company, my account has been revoked for spamming and there is no chance to get it back. Do all domain registrars treat their customers like complete and utter shit. I bet Godaddy makes money off my traffic until it's gone then auction MY domain off. Fuck you GODADDY!!! I'm looking for a new domain registrar....even post affiliate links. |
they have 99 cent domains. go daddy.

opensrs are your friend!! pay the fee and transfer away!

Had it really only been 6 months since your previous newsletter and that you always send them only every 6 months? Even still, a newsletter that seldom is kind of dangerous just because people can forget they're signed up to it and think you're spamming them which is probably what happened. Unless it was hosted at GD though, they shouldn't be the one doing shit, and I think it's BS they can redirect a domain without notice to a page that they make money on.

Go Daddy are evil I have had a few run ins with them. DO yourself a favour and move away. Read their terms and conditions if you really want to be scared! Then ask yourself do I really own this domain or does GoDaddy?

Not all registrars are like that, and this is one of the reasons I don't use godaddy. |

People sign up with fake emails and the real email owner gets your newsletter. |
The man in the avatar eats a green vegetable. We all got owned.

was you hosting with go daddy.com
This happen to me back in 2005, send a news letter out thru vbulletin to 4000 members. But I was using there host. |
I have over 100 sites with them, this is a bit of a worry.
Who is better / safest? Moniker? |

If your users will sign up and confirm and you are not just adding people on your own I would use one of these as they have 15-60 day free trials to get the hang of it and the templates they provide don't take much to tweak to make them look pretty sharp. I have used constant contact in the past and it was pretty simple. Haven't used any of the others but I got a new site that could use one so I might eyeball one of the others for a comparison to my Constant Contact experience. Benefit of these is it sends from their servers so you will never have an issue with someone disabling your domain, worst case if you did some shady shit is they suspend your email marketing account.

godaddy, go fuck yourself ! |
Seems like some of you have issues with them but I can't turn down a new domain for a buck. :)

Just another godaddy extortion fee horror story...
I hope you have records of them promising to whitelist your domain, get them to fix it then move away ASAP... |

Wow, I just transfered ome of my domains to GoDaddy as I have others purchased directly through them and thought I'd try and get them all in one please.
I've never had any problems but this thread makes me kind of nervous! |
Just another horror story from the GoDaddy team

I have been using GoDaddy for domain registrations and hosting for 7 years now and have never had any problems at all. As a host, they only had a few hours downtime and that only happened once. All in all, I find them to be awesome. But I have never sent emails to my customers en mass. I was thinking about doing just that the other day - to advertise some specials but now I think I will ask them about it first. Better safe than sorry and never assume anything.

they are scumbags and have fucked plenty of people over the years.
