Taco Bell's new $2 Meal Deals set new standard for fast food
Fast food's value-menu war hits a new low today: the $2 combo meal.
Taco Bell will announce plans to roll out $2 Meal Deals that include a taco or burrito, a medium soft drink and a bag of Doritos. It is the only national chain selling an entree, side dish and drink for $2 ? a penny more than an iTunes video download. "This is certainly thinking outside the bun," says Bob Sandelman, CEO of the restaurant research firm Sandelman & Associates. "I'm sure McDonald's will be watching with interest." McDonald's says it isn't impressed. "Our research shows that we consistently rank among the best in the industry in consumers' perceptions of value," says spokeswoman Ashlee Yingling. Oh good, now you can get the shits twice as fast.
BTW, all of those are, or were owned by Yum! Foods at one point. Enjoy your Pepsi. |
For those that still don't know:
Taco Bell is NOT Mexican or "Latin" food. |

McFatalds is only impressed with fatasses downing their fatastic Big Fats. My stomach told me a long time ago it'd take out a knife and stab me in the eye if I ate McFat ever again. Taco Bell may give the runs but at least that means it ain't sticking around to give me an inner fat coat.

It's like a trial membership, it gets you in the door then you buy more.

The problem is a lot of americans will order 2 or 3 meals for themselves.

i care ... it's an interesting business to be in during a depression, & it's interesting to see how they compete against each other.
Thanks for the post. |
Taco or burrito, a medium soft drink and a bag of Doritos for $2 = unbelievable value from Taco Bell. It really is cheap. Having said that, I think it does make sense to eat food based on nutrition (not based on price). Good luck.

diarrhea even cheaper, nice.

I used to love Taco Bell years ago, but I would puke if I ate there now. I make my own tacos with better ingrediants and my own drink and snack. It's a little bit of work, but I make enough for several meals, and tastes so much better without making you run to the toilet afterwards.

Great new for every cheap ass and homeless guy in da hood.

We rarely eat fast food, but I was surprised the other day when we ordered two combo meals and walked out of there spending less than $9 for two people.

Just what fat americans need during this recession.
And since when was a bag of doritos considered an 'entree'? |

Used to love TB until I hit 205 lbs - stopped, with an exeption once in a while, 183 now. It is devil in disguise.

This started out a long long time ago when everyone was making their 99 cent value menu's and I see this as just another gimmick to get more people in the door. |
