Paysite Owners, Developers, Designers, Free Site Owners...Can You Afford to Not Have an iPad?
NO |
Damn.
Thanks for the head's up foo. :winkwink: |
i love mine.
|
Sure, it's .0025% of the traffic that people have, if that.
Can they afford to not have an iPhone, no. Before people can get into the pad market, they should already being doing mobile. I get hit up quite often by other companies to test their mobile sites for them. And I do to be nice, but no way they should have an iPad before an iPhone. |
I don't even own a cellphone...

I can. I never leave my sofa and therefore never need a way to do something remotely. :)

There are other tablets coming out as well. The iPad is not the be all and end all.
Android is picking up steam, and when people are able to buy Android based tablets with more memory and storage and actual USB ports...for half the price, THEN we'll really see tablets really take off. |
i dont have a beer

After bending to the will of the masses, I got one. Had it for 2 years. Now it sits behind the seat (I think) in my truck collecting dust. Yeah, I can afford to not have one. |
I guess if Apple decides to allow Porn apps then yes Ipad is needed for everyone but with what I am reading on the Android, I'll let the guys carrying murse and designers play with the Ipad and wait with the Android google tablet to come out. Right now I am looking at putting my iphone at rest and go with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 next week.
|
Personally of course you can afford not to have one. As business owners I believe if you plan on being successful for years to come you have to have one.
One example... Design and usability is going from mouse based to touch based. You have to understand and get a feel for what that is like and how to build products that implement that. |
If you want to be innovative you need to embrace and throw yourself into new technologies especially those that will be a growing trend, which the ipad clearly will be.

There is a whole different way to promote mobile. Even the language used, how many times have you seen "Tap Here" on a PC site? |

Shap, I own Apple stock too. This is not how you rig the market to make the price go up!!
|
I'm pretty satisfied by just borrowing a friends to make sure the sites look fine on one.
|
I bought an IPAD while I was at PHX Forum.... Since we won't have these in Canada until end of May.. IF....
Have to say that I love it. won,t replace a laptop for the day to day, but, for many things like internet and some other stuff I simply love it :) |

speaking of, is there a website that catalogs/lists all iphone apps?
|
this thread confuses me.... why would i need an ipad? we know what works there and what doesnt. its a webkit browser that doesnt support flash, with a set resolution, not a lot of guesswork there.

I just don't see why the iPad has to be so essential.
|
I do need one too, but I think no one here should focus on them. I believe all of you should use flash video. Also I think no one should think about physical interaction with their sites not devices.
Shap just walk away with your ipad out onto the beach, and enjoy ;) |

no wonder i hate apple. first was quicktime, next was buying a gift cert for itunes, which requires downloading that app. amazing. |
Honestly Shap, do you know everyone's business? How does an iPad make my business better when they're anti-adult? Sure I get the jist of your idea which is optimize for every platform. But at this point is the .003% of traffic really worth the money? Right now, no. I have major respect for you but I don't like when people act as if they're all-knowing.

So my razor is not sufficient?

i dont need no stinkin ipad to work on my "touch" :2 cents: . |
Touch screen monitors are great for shops and comercial premissies. But they dont work very well in the normal everyday household as we found out. I think the only way they would work is if the monitor was flat like a book on a table other wise they are pretty useless when you spend half a day with your arm stuck up in the air. I personally dont see them becoming popular on household computers for a long time yet but on small mobile devices yes they will become more popular
|
useless shit.
I just ordered little averatec laptop from Office Max that will serve me better. |
If you guys don't have them ready now, start working on them. Plan 6 months ahead and by the time you get there they should have some other tablets ready.
